just had my car back after head gasket done & skimming etc... it feels sound but on my way home (20miles) the oil temp went upto 124 and coolant temp was right over halfway...it used to sit just below!!! is this ok?? i`m assuming the engine will behave slightly differently to how it was!! also the dash needles started to jump when wipers went or i flashed my lights...bad earth??? cheers glad to have it back though!!

before my missus` bought hers i let her drive mine home one night after i was drinking-she wasnt!! i found it quite nice getting driven about in my car until.... :) whilst cruising around a bend she decided she was going too fast and slammed on the anchors... :shock: back end stepped out one way then the other!! :cry: i shut my eyes and waited for a bang-but (i think it was a miracle) she recovered the car and drove me all the way home... :D i decided then if she wanted to drive a corrado then she`d have to buy her own!! she`s been practicing her skills in her own car for a few months now(under supervision of course) and i might let go fer a spin in mine for her xmas present!!! :lol: :lol:

how many female Corrado drivers are about? i know 3!! my gilfriend - 1.8 16v mates girlfriend - G60 another girl - Vr6 Storm (mates old one)! :wink:

so just for coilovers then i`m guessing?

i think the quantum is vw own make alarm- my 91 c came with one full closure etc so cat 1 i think! it shortly broke an i got toad instead!

sorry to come back again so late but only just tried it in the missus` car and i`m getting exactly the same problem-the filter is too long!!! the code on the box and the end of the filter is 33-2032! if anyone`s got one lying about ( or can be bothered to go and check theirs ) it would be much appriciated as it dead annoying! cheers

well i took mine back from my first mechanic as he said it wouldnt need skimming& valve seals would be fine??? it at a main dealer alternative now for the work...gonna get 1years warranty and i got a hammered mk2 8v to spin about in-backfires an everything, i feel 17 again!! new garage got quite a good rep but it still gonna cost £500-you think thats ok??

is it usual for anyone`s fan to run all day when not driven??? or is that a typo?

my girlfriend`s C is leaking from the top seal- its gonna be easier to claim for a new windscreen rather than get it resealed as it costs about £60 for reseal at autoglass and they cant guaratee the glass wont break on removal!! and therefore have to get a new windscreen anyway. not long ago had my windscreen replaced and they had to order seal special-cant be sure on a price but i think it was near £100!!! pay your excess and get a spanking new windscreen!

got mine from demon tweeks and phoned them and they said was the right one! gonna try in b`s car tomorrow as it was dark by the time it got back from they garage-if it fits i`ll just steal her airbox!! she`ll never know-ha ha ha!!

just recieved delivery of k&n panel filter (just as my cars gone off for head gasket :( ) tried fitting whilst waiting for recovery truck to haul it away but found it was about 5/6 mm too long for my air box...checked codes etc...all ok anyone else had this problem cos i dont wanna start trimming it but that looks like the only way??

how you go about that? it seems a bit more than a cable adjustment but i dont know... i heard about a 16v owner who changed the whole gear cable system from stick to selector???(bit next to the gear box with two cables going into it)(does that make sense???)just to get rid of the play...any ideas? :?

me birds (90 standard 16v) has a lot of play when selecting gears, it`ll go into gear no problem as long as you pick the right spot. my golfII GTi had a similar problem and i heard it was the `ball` below the gearstick that was the offending article...is this the same on the C?? and how is it sorted(as i never bothered on my golf) cheers guys

just got back from the garage-he is a vw mechanic& i do trust him but i`m always a bit suspicious of anyone when it comes to repairing my C! my car didnt overheat at all, the coolant went into the oil within 20 miles of me checking it previously i hadnt been hammering it and the car was running fine before-hand do i need to change stem seals and guides when head work is being done and is there any other parts excluding cambelt,tensioner,head and cam cover gaskets etc that need replacing?? cheers-hopefully be back on wednesday!!

cheers guys. its up at the garage at the mo` and it`s getting checked today. i know its not the oil cooler as that went about a month ago and i ended up with emulsified oil in my coolant had that replaced i lost all my coolant on monday no signs of any puddles etc, re-filled and check my oil-it all looked ok driving on wednesday about 20 miles car felt ok just not quite right!! so checked it on thursday morning, again no coolant and my dipstick and oil cap were both very clearly covered in emulsified oil! :cry: :cry: so i reckon its pretty much the head, will post what i find out later thanxs

hey guys my head gaskets just gone :( only driven bout twenty miles before it went completely as i`d checked oil etc yesterday and no emulsified oil but there was this morning so it shouldn`t have been cooked but i`ve had conflicting advice on skimming the head, differences in compression and performance gaskets etc! also do the vaves on `91 1.8 16v protrude and therefore need to be removed to skim the head!do i need it skimming?any advice much apprieciated cheers ben :(

or get someone to look at your suspension topmount my girlfriends C does the same especially on bumpy roads, speed bumps etc

alright rich mine did the same when the battery was low the car still started but all displays reset sometimes i`d lose my radio presets also
