    Rear VW Badge

Someone nicked the chrome rear badge off my VR6 - does anyone have one spare?
  2. Ok - will clean and test the ISV. It idles at around 1000 RPM for a while from cold and then settles down to 640. Is that normal?
  3. Are you thinking of bringing some in from the States? I could be interested.
  4. I've looked into this - the third brake light will ONLY fit the US spec tail gates. There is no recess for it on the UK models. A few people have fitted an OEM one by cutting a section out of the tailgate and fitting a bracket. There are also other non OEM options that are less intrusive. I've got a third brake light sitting around in the hope that I get round to this sometime.
  5. Not really to my taste, but as I was getting my VR6 washed noticed this one tucked away behind a wall - I think it's a 16V, but nor really sure.
  6. Hi all - my car tends to idle high on cold after start up and sometimes I get the dreaded needle dropping when coming to a stop. Could this be a problem with the idle stabilization valve? I've checked for vacuum leaks and all the piping appears to be sound. I don't want to invest in an ISV unless I have to as they are quite pricey. Thanks.

    Gamma head unit

Don't know - I always got a code with them

    Gamma head unit

Any of the ones I had from Germany always came with the code. There is a way of deriving the code from the serial number as well, or a dealer can unlock it.

    Gamma head unit

I have one that lights up green - slightly earlier model of the Gamma IV. You can get them both on German ebay quite easily - they come up often.
  10. Second that. All I've ever used in my VR and no problems.
  11. Do you have an uprated headlight loom fitted?
  12. The crack pipe is a plastic tube that runs from the water pump housing in the block on the left hand side to the thermostat housing. They can give out after 20 odd years or so.
  13. Could also be the water pump,or crack pipe, but you really need to have a good look when the engine is running and up to temp. The dripping coolant will often collect somewhere at the front and then end up as a puddle on the floor. Nothing worse as it;s so hard to track down.
  14. Radiator replaced and cooling system now functioning as expected. Not bad for a 22 year old radiator to keep running for so long.
  15. Yeah, all five were in before. Just two holding it on at the minute, one at the end and the centre one. I will try taking the whole thing off again and lining it up properly and see if that makes a difference.
  16. Can only get two screws back in to the reinforcing bar for the front splitter - any tips?
  17. Shiny new radiator in place - it is a Hella one - seems pretty good quality. Now filling and re-pressurizing the cooling system and checking for any leaks. Fingers crossed...
  18. Does anyone know the torque settings for the front bumper bolts off the top of their head? Cheers.
  19. Yeah, it's not too bad once you've done it a couple of times. The trick is to do any other bits that are then easy to get at while you have the front end off - oil cooler hoses and engine sensors and alternator etc. spring to mind. I've inspected all my power steering hoses and tightened them where needed.
  20. This is the sorry scene outside my house at the moment...
  21. The part# is 535121687 - VW Heritage are out of stock, dealers may have them, I found it on fleabay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313&_nkw=535121687&_sacat=0
