  1. That is what happened, but the bottom hose did eventually heat up. The guy I know said it probably is the thermostat, but he is not 100%. He's going to change it and see what happens. The top hose also has a shed load of pressure build up when it's hot, it's like a metal bar, it can't be compressed at all.

Thanks for all the replies guys, much appreciated.

  2. Both fans are running fine, the rad is under 1 year old as well.

Thanks for the replies, I am taking to a friend of mine who works for VW tonight. He knows everything about all VW engines, so I'm sure he'll sus it out.

  3. I was on the way to work yesterday, and after sitting in traffic for a few minutes I noticed that the water temp on my car was showing nearly 120c, thought it was a bit strange, but not to bizzare as it was quite hot, and no air flow through the engine for five mins. I noticed on the way home that it climbed up to over 110c, that's with motorway driving as well, so plenty of air flow. It normally sits between 90 and 100c.

My mate has had a quick look this morning, and he suspects it's the head gasket or a cracked head. Does that sound reasonable? He has checked the water pump which he say seems to be working fine.

If it is head gasket or cracked head, how much money are we talking? Or any other ideas what it may be?

    Cheers

  4. I was giving my car some beans last night, and as i approached the redline in first and second, my handbrake light flashed on and off. Any ideas why? Perhaps it's a shift light that VW didn't tell us about!

  5. I hope someone can help me out with this problem. Since I have had the car it has been quite tough to start, at all times, cold, warm, hot whatever. When I turn the key, obviously all the relevant dashboard lights come on, but when I turn it all the way to start the engine, one of two things happens. The lights will stay on, and the car will start, or the lights will all go off, and the car won't start, but it will also stop trying to start after about five seconds.

Any ideas what it could be, I was thinking ignition switch, but not sure what the symptons of a dodgy one are.

    Cheers.

  6. I think I'd feel a prick in an RX8 to be honest.

What ever floats your boat I suppose Kev!

My next car is definately gonna be a new Integra type R. They are lovely looking motors, and I'm really not a fan of rice machines.

  7. Just a quick topic to say thanks to Liam and Steve for the work they did on my mate Grahams car yesterday. He is absolutely thrilled with the work. The car seems really smooth now, and as soon as the throttle cable is changed, it will be even better. Thanks again, and keep up the good work.

If anyone wants any work done on their G60 or G40, then these are the people to see. You won't be disapointed!

  8. Cheers for the replies guys. He just told me that he steam cleaned his wheels on Saturday, so I'm guessing that may have something to do with it as well.

  9. Driving down a dual carriageway in my mates G60 earlier today, and the ABS light came on. When we stopped, he started the car again, and the light went off, and stayed off. He kept his foot on the brake as he started, and the pedal dropped as you would expect it to. What do you reckon, dodgy wiring, or something else?

    Cheers

  10. Well not me personally. My other halfs brother bought it. It's Deep red, possibly Indian red, not sure. There are a few bits of the bodywork to be repainted, but there are no dents. As he knows a paint sprayer, they will be sorted quickly and cheaply. It's done 106,000 miles. The guy he bought it from has had it for five years, but never had the charger serviced. So we are not sure on that, but it is putting out very good boost, and gives my VR a good run until we reach stupid figures. He is going to get it serviced thoughprobably through g-werks. (Does anyone know how long it takes to get a charger serviced etc?) It is totally standard, and he got it for the bargain price on £2250.

I will get some pics up, but as the weather was pants yesterday, we couldn't get them clean.
