Great job and thanks for posting up your experiences, I'm about to swapout the rear beam and the Koni kit. Not looking forward to bleeding the brakes though.
Keep us updated.

Yeah dash out was very rewarding in the end.
Pilkington Classics for the screen and no it doesn't have the Green band, I prefer it without to be honest.
I replaced every piece of foam whilst the dash was out, I wanted a thorough job doing considering the size of the overall task.

The cover looks better painted, matches the manifold.

I've been pretty busy since my last post, swapped the heater matrix and refurbed the heater box flaps and removed all the old wiring foam and re-wrapped.
Windscreen was also replaced, was dreading the condition underneath but needn't have worried, my screen fitter hadn't see one in better condition so really happy with that.
I've also spent hours and hours under the bonnet, photos for a later date.
Currently working on rear beam refurb and front subframe etc.

They look great, worth more 😂

Looking very nice Chris. Is that the cover you had off me?

I had the same issue with a VDO pump but sent it back for a full refund. I wished I'd kept it and swapped it into the existing and uncracked swirl pot. I did this with a new pump only I bought and that failed because of water in the old fuel in the tank, pillock! I ended up buying the 4 bar pump from Heritage which interestingly has a clip together swirl pot and no screws.
So if it were me I'd keep the VDO pump.

Also in Notts, I used these https://midlandsvehicleglass.co.uk/about
Did a great job and didn't use the spacers I bought, really took his time to give me a 1st class job, very happy. I supplied the windscreen.
You can have the spacers I have if you want them.

Thanks Matt and mooG60, I'll most likely go with Lemforder as my car won't be doing mega miles.
I've got a spare beam too that I've started stripping.

I've done the sensible thing and bought OE,
Going by the axle bush replacement guide in the Wiki section (and other comments online), it's a real ball banger and should only be done with the correct vag 3111 tool.
I'm just left under the impression that without the corrects tool and die the bushes can easy be chewed up when fitting. I was just hoping to find some one in the area with previous experience with them.
Just to clarify, did he remove the axle completely from the car, or just let it swing in situ?
Thank you for the reply
Hi, where did you buy the bushes? I've seen genuine VAG for £67 each.
Thanks.

I didn't see the bottom spring plates, I'll have a proper look this time.
I use AVS and classic parts, occasionally LLL aswell.
Thanks for the info.
