  1. Haha looks who's back, looks good dude. I've got a red vr6 sticker for front vr6 badge if you want it Matt. Just rub down original, stick on decal then lacquer over. I bought a chrome effect and a red one but only really wanted chrome as per my original.

Is your mechanic mate still in Upton? Got all new subframe etc to be fitted to mine and can't find time or unit to do it myself

  2. Apologies if this is an odd or obvious question.

I have a rear beam all stripped down ready for blasting and powder coating. Are there any areas that should not be coated I.e the rear stub axle mating point and the inside face where the rear beam bushes slide in to.

Same goes with rear calliper carriers, should the mating surface be coated?

  3. I'll have one going sometime as I have sourced all used subframe parts and blasted and powdercoated to do the swap; so I will need to recoup some (ever escalating) costs. Will still be a while though as I currently can't stomach the labour costs to do the replacement at the moment and I haven't currently got access to workshop space to do it...

  4. Excellent sounds good.

I saw you were located in Newport and the one I mentioned was once owned by my cousin and sold recently from the Wye Valley. Waiting for it to turn up in here at some point.

Somebody on here sells a new design of light switch they are good and are not plagued with the problems of the originals. Can't remember the chaps name though

  5. Since I have had the car when I use the drivers side window it does not fully go up at the top and i have to physically pull the glass up the last 5-10mm or so to get a good seal when i get out. it is infuriating if you have used the window and then go down the motorway as you get an whistle sound.

Anyway I have had the drivers door card off today because I had a minor leak in heavy rain and I wanted to check the membrane so thought I would have a look at widow glass too...

All seems ok, rollers are ok, the only movement/freeplay i can find is with the plastic bracket that is attached to the glass the clip appear to have broken on one side

Is this likely to be the culprit and is the only way to repair it via new door glass?

see diagram below of offending bracket (circled in red)

  6. This is how mine are sat now having been on for a week or so. I would say my rear springs are definitely from the batch that has had some issues for others.

By the looks of the photos mine are a similar drop at the rear to Culshaw's but because I've used front lowering caps the difference between front and rear is far less pronounced. Ironically I actually have the drop I was looking for (but not expecting) from the B12's but I'm not yet convinced on the comfort of the ride at the rear though and can't make up my mind if they are crashy at the rear or just harder than I'm used too...

Mk3highline who organised the group buy isn't getting back to me anymore unfortunately.

May have to fork out for an additional set of springs to get the correct rears, haven't decided yet. Will run them for a bit longer...

  7. Just checked the original ones I took off my storm. They are indeed red rear and black front. The rear dampers don't rebound at all when strut rod pushed in so they must have been f@&£ed.

  8. Took the originals off my storm this week. They are currently sat on my driveway. Away for a few days now but I'll take a look on sat. Pretty sure the shocks are red under all the crud....

  9. Prob is I bought the kit well over 12months ago so my only route for rectification is "not fit for purpose" as they are out of warranty...I going to wait and watch how mine settles for now as with the front lowering caps mine is pretty even all round...

  10. As I mentioned mine was high at the rear with them left as standard. With the car sat on the ground level you could not move the bumpstops up or down at all on the damper strut as they were compressed between the top and bottom cups. I know they are said to be spring assisters but surely they should not impact the ride height.

I did quite a lot of online searches on this generally regarding b12 across various forums for differing cars and bilsteins advice over the telephone seemed to be

    Customer: "should I cut bumpstops"

Bilstein: "you don't need to cut bumpstops",

customer: "but my car is sat high at the rear if I don't"

Bilstein: "ok you better cut them down then"

    Really excelling themselves aren't they.....
