Whats it going to cost

Recommended Posts

Hi All

My VR6 is in need of some serious work, bought on the cheap i knew it needed much of the working doing. Just wondering if anyone could put a rough figure to the cost of this.

Exhaust, Mid/Rear + Centre boxes

Brake disks rear

Shocks + Bumpstops rear

Brake pads all round

Rear wheel bearings

Replacement seals on oil cooler

Front engine mount (for safety's sake)

+ Labour Costs

Would try to get it done through a VW specialist, and im after all VAG parts ideally.

Vibratechnics front mount plus fitting about £170 incl VAT (I had this done - component from TSR. Local garage fitted for £15 plus VAT. )

all them jobs are easy to do,why not get your hands dirty and save yourself some cash..as the labour costs will be at least £200 or more

Yeah would try my hand at most things there. Only problem is the weather :( garage is too full to fit the car into and MOT is due soon.

tbh that little list is really just minor fettling................

exhaust IMO its best to get either a MIlltek or Magnex cat-back system....so budget approx £300-ish(£30-£50 fitting)

rear brake discs are approx £30-£50 a pair (1-2hr labour inc wheel bearing/pad fitting)

rear shocks and bumpstops will be approx £100 (2hours labour) GS+F or Euro-car-parts for them

rear wheel bearings approx £15 from VW a side

replacement seals for oil cooler are £2ea approx(30-45mins labour)

engne mount from VW is approx £50+vat.....vibratech one is £100+(15-30mins labour)

front pads £15-£25 depending on what pads you use (and approx 30mins a side)

you may as well change the abs rotor cages on the rear discs if you are getting the rear discs and bearings done......this will add approx £10 ea side to the price

Thanks for that VR6Storm. Yeah i suppose it is really minor in the grand scheme of Corrado ownership, just my first ever major outlay on a car in one sitting. Good tip on the "rotor cages" forgot about them, had problems with those on my last VR6. Will get those replaced too.
