vr6 dizzy cap ?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever replaced the dizzy cap on the vr ???

I removed the unit yesterday , but it doesn't look as easy as i thought !!!

Is it a sealed unit ??

I wouldn't ask , but the lower part of the cap is crack and as i know from the past , water and ignition system's dont mix well !!! :)

Its quite easy mate, just the same as changing any other dizzy cap.

I got mine from GS&F as VW was out of stock.

Just unclip it and remove the black cover from the actual cap (all will become apparent when you take the cap off) and place it on the new cap. The Black cover has all the numbers which correspond to which number HT lead needs to be plugged in so you can’t really go wrong.

Put it all back together the same way you took it apart.

Remember the little earth lead type thing that plugs in to the side of the cap.

It’s also a good time to change the rota arm, if it’s the original it will be glued on.

I removed the on my VR with a pair of mole grips.

hope this helps.
