Replacing injector O rings

Recommended Posts

its easyish

i had the injectors in and out of my 16 valve mk2 golf a few times.

they are tight though. what i would do, was clip a set of mole grips to the hex part of the injector (dont pull em by the pipe!!!) and rest the mole grip handle against the inlet manifold in such a way that it would act as a level. a smack onto the handle would pull the injector sharply and free it. (use your hand to smack it, thus regulating force)

to refit i'd put them in place, then with a long screw driver and a hammer, tap them in.

the o rings should come out with the injectors.

This is a job best done when the engine is hot as the seals will be nice and soft.

I wouldn't use any petroleum based lubricants (such as WD40) as it will attack the rubber.

Thanks for that chaps.

I've recently read that changing these O rings can give restore lost power on higher mileage cars due to air leaks.
