nigwell 0 Posted January 3, 2005 Hi Guys Ive been having a few problems with my VR starting lately for the last 3 months its been starting ok with occasional problem days and then this morning its playing up again by turning over but not firing up? :x i have been through all the usual things and replaced and tested most of them over the last 3 months like HT leads, Spark Plugs, Battery, ISV, Crank Postion Sensor, Coil Pack, Ignition Switch, Relay 109, ive even had it VAGCOM Checked in the past but every time there are no faults logged??? any ideas of what else to look at? and is it ok to test/check for a spark against the engine block? or will it do damage to the electronics??? sorry for this being a stupid question. regards nigwell
fla 9 Posted January 4, 2005 Hey Nigwell I've been told both things - that is is ok to test it against the block and also that it fries the electrics, so take your pick! You can also get a spark plug tester which basically clips on to the plug and lead while you get someone to crank the engine over. Halfords or your local spares shop. Meanwhile, all the best for the new year
coolrado 0 Posted January 4, 2005 well if you think about it the spark plug is bolted into the block, so what is the difference testing it on the outside of the block?? even if the centre electrode grounded out i doubt it would cause any problems
