Henny 0 Posted January 5, 2005 yup! That's right... 8) You could try swapping the connectors for the blue and the black sensors over and see if that makes any different. The black one does the temp gauge, the blue one does the ECU, but they're pretty much identical, so if you swap 'em over and find that the car runs better but the temp gauge doesn't work properly, then you've found your problem... ;) 8) p.s. the only stupid question is the one you don't ask but don't know the answer to... ;) 8) Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

fendervg 32 Posted August 15, 2015 Thread resurrection as I'm doing this at the moment - I have an old blue temp sender here - it tests 2860 ohms across the two pins when cold. VAG have a temp vs resistance diagram here - so I presume it's within tolerances at room temperature. Threw it into a bowl with boiling water and it changes to 560 ohms, so that looks right. You can test vacuum by using a T piece in between one of the vac hoses and a pressure tester. I was measuring 1,.5 bar at idle I think. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
