THE WIZZARD OF NOS

Recommended Posts

Can anyone point me in the gereral direction in where I can have NOZ fitted and estimated cost?

I believe there are a few different types of Nitros kits available, the one I liked the sound of was dry nitros, aparantely it was better for your engine. To my knowlege, the dry Noz is more of a gradual incease of power than apposed to a 50 or what ever sudden increase of power. The later does sound good but I know what I am like, and that button would be like playing a rally game on the computer! Gradual power sounds good to me.

I am not confident with this art all hence why I am relying on my fellow C drivers to help.

Whilst I was writing this, I just though the canister could go under the armrest? Eveyone seems to spend loads of money modifying their car when NOZ has to be the most fun to use, gives you great power but it hasnt fully taken off here like it has in america or something and we normally always follow on from the americans in such cases.

So, anyone that wants to educate me on NOZ would be greatly appreciated, such as possible side effects, price, performance etc.

Kind regards - Rams   :pharoh:

dont go dry. go wet

Dry is just NOS without fuel which unless u is mapped and got bigger fuel pump injectors then you gonna lean out bad.

Timing is also a issue. it is usually necessary to retard a degree or two with NOS.

get a wet kit which adds fuel and NOS. get 40 shot or so. If you read vortex them you see that sam added a 40 shot and hit around 300wheel lbs fT of torque. for reference a std car does around 140lbs ft at the wheels. sound slike it may take its toll on the engine and tranny after a short time. any more n somefink is snapping.

i do fancy installing NOS myself. not sure if any insurance company will touch a car with NOS installed.

Get a bottle warmer n a pressure gauge. both are needed. pressure needs to be sustained i believe.

not sure about venting. Believe they use a safety valve in case of excess pressure. if this goes itll vent laughing gas into the cabin. not good. think in racing you need to vet this through the floor. stops u getting giddy

if you had a G60 i'd say talk to sam from SNS. he's put nitrous on one of his G60s and has had great success. it works *very* well to drop intake temps.. and the extra torque is unreal.

you can get a wet kit along with a controller that will release it gradually instead of one big hit.

i think the reason a lot of people don't go with nitrous is that the engine and components must be in tip top condition or you'll just break things. driveshafts, cvs.. and shit like that won't be easy to keep in one piece if you run an already modded car with nitrous.

Highpower are one of the leading UK distributers of NOS systems goto their website click here they have all the info on what to do and what costs are involved. I am personally looking at going the nos route in the near future and I will definately get a wet kit as the dry nos only injection can cause bad fuel to nos dissipation across each cylinder which can cause piston meltdown!! just as a guide you'll be looking at about the £700 mark fitted for a basic kit and then if you want the progressive controller on top of that so you have control over the rate the nos is fed into the engine you'll be looking at a further £400 odd quid!!

Ive been running Wizard kit on my VR for a year now with no problems at all and still puring at 135k ,running 50 jets at mo,timming is not an big issue, myne is advanced with a superchip(which is a big no no ?!!)when its supposed to be retarded to stop pre-detonation,progressive controllers are good when running over the 100 bhp mark and can always be added at later date.

Kits are SO EASY to fit ,you get instructions to do so,whether you have machanical knowlage or not .....

More than likley the budget kits you buy will be wet rather than dry,and IGNORE the myth leading around n.o.s kits, pistons melting ,manifold bla bla .......rubish

Wizard kits have a good build quality and good to talk to.

What does this red button dooooooooo...........................................>>>>

Cheers James

Ive yet not come across insurers how will touch N.O.S

I am confused now???

I have the cash to get this system in place so I guess I should get as much knowlege as possible, if you have any more things yoiiu can tell me about Nos that would be a great start. I want to lear it for myself before I decide to get it done so I know what to do and expect.

Corradovr6 -nos, what performance stats are you producing? Is it really a killer on the road and c\ould I have the button on my gear knob if I lifted a cap for the obvious reasons.

Yeah you can have a push button on the Gearknob. But you should run an 2nd Arm button on the right hand side of your dash too. Get on of those fancy Helicopter

missile arming switches. Running both will stop your drunk mates or crazy girlfirend

sending you flying past the coppers....

Not too fussed about the pipes as long as it delivers!

Joe, if you mean the metering jets in the solenoids, they are at 75bhp though each injector is capable of handling 175bhp alone, the idea of direct port is that the VR's long & curvy inlet manifold means that you get a fair degree of fuel drop out and i want as much as i can get out of it without waste.

The power delivery is instant and more accurate that the single point.

Will be good when fitted i'm sure so here's waiting for a nice day to fit it.

James, you not fancy?

I need to get things sweet for this years thrash to Mania in Belgium i hope to go to.

I remember a trip to Highpower about 10 years ago. Myself and a mate had an old mk3 escort fitted with an xr2 rally engine, twin 40's, big cam etc.... We went to look at a kit and asked for some sort of demo. At the time these 2 guys were working out of a collection of sheds on some allotments near Doncaster. As a demo they opened up one of the sheds and proudly presented us with A BOND BUG! You know the orange plastic 3 wheeled thing. Without nitrous 0-60 = never. With nitrous 0-60 = 7 seconds. We politely declined a test drive and bought the basic kit. After installing 50 bhp jets and getting it set up it was really good. Unforunately we got a bit greedy and went to 100bhp jets. The engine survived, but the chassis only lasted 6 weeks before it literally tore itself apart. Eventually we got £6 scrap value for the chassis and the nitrous kit is in my mates garage awaiting its next outing.

LOL, good story!

Yeah, the setup hasn't gone to far from those grass roots, a portacabin was bought last year to use as an office and the sheds/allotments are still there!

The kit is good though and works well but it makes round-a-bouts come up very quickly indeed!

Jim, how did your car do on stealths rollers?

Yeah i've been down a couple of times, picking up a long throw steel VR crank with Paul(H8 RRA) for his car.

Never had mine on the rollers, shame but need other stuff doing before i spend cash on R/Roading it though i'm curious what it's putting out in it's current state!
