potatonet 0 Posted March 2, 2005 is the idler pulley on e G60 supposed to spin a lot freely? if it doesnt is it fried and will it sound like a jet engine?
h100vw 0 Posted March 2, 2005 Can we take it you are talking of the 2 pulleys that the alternator drive belt runs over? If the bearings have gone then they will make a noise. Best to replace them both IMO. In the UK they are about £20 each. Gavin
Supercharged 2 Posted March 2, 2005 Can also be replaced by 8v cambelt tensioners..

Banana Man 0 Posted March 2, 2005 I run 2 cambelt tensioners on my toothed belt pulley setup but then again the htd belt that I run is 1600mm long whereas the std ribbed belt is 1660mm iirc so the saving that you make on buying cam tensioners would be lost if you have to go out and buy a shorter serpentine belt to be able to get enough tension without it slipping as the cam tensioners have a smaller diameter than the black std tensioners
Supercharged 2 Posted March 2, 2005 But you can tension it can't you as the CBT's are eccentric....
