gradeAfailure 0 Posted April 11, 2005 Alan, whereabouts are you in the UK? There will probably be a good VW specialist within an hour of you, wherever you are - someone'll know which! :D
capnahab 0 Posted April 11, 2005 That does seem like exessivley bad fuel consumption. I get around 17 - 18 on th emotorway and about 13 around town, but im overfuelling quite badly and need it tinkered with.
CazzaVR 0 Posted April 11, 2005 Blimey, some of these mpg figures are terrible! My G60 was chipped & pulleyed and always got at least 35mpg on a long run at 75-85mph. VERY nice G60 by the way! As gradeAfailure said, you must be within reach of a specialist. Whereabouts are you?
alan_edward 0 Posted April 11, 2005 I live around Ilford Essex. G-Werks is 98 miles away from me. I am thinking of giving them a visit on thursday. But is there anywhere else I can try? AndyVR6, Did your G60 have the Jabba chip or the sns one? Alan
gradeAfailure 0 Posted April 11, 2005 I'd venture a guess that a visit to G-Werks would be more than worth the mileage... PM Darren (g-man) and see what he says... He could probably change your crank bolt while you're there! See this thread...
alan_edward 0 Posted April 12, 2005 Booked an appointment for next tuesday. Good news. I just calculated my recent figures: 252 miles for £40. Thats about 25 mpg. Can I still get more. Most of that miles were 50+ mph. Cheers Alan
Pickard1 0 Posted April 13, 2005 Ive never calculated my mpg for sure. But ive owned a 2.0 16v which...... would do 23mpg (on the trip computer) on a run and single figures if i was giving it some hammer. My G60 is ammazingly efficient, im looking at 35 on a run and 28 around town. last month i was cruising down the motorway and decided to have a play. Got the MPG up to 49 by cruising at 58ish mph. alan_edward 0 Posted April 14, 2005 Are you running the Stage 4 charger? if so, what chip are you running.. My pockets are getting empty by the minute. Last week alone I filled the car up twice paid £101 :( and did very little miles....... Oh well, Looking forward to my trip to G-Werks to sort this problem out. Pickard1 0 Posted April 14, 2005 Ive got a stage 4 charger, but just the standard chip and pulley. Forgot to mention that. Its done 160,000 miles and I didnt fancy blowing the engine up by upping the power!! As I remember the stage 4 was supposed to have some kind of super efficient or wear resistant seals, but I dont immagine they make much difference! Andy D 0 Posted April 14, 2005 Had the same problem was averaging 17 MPG. Run vehicle up to running temperature, you will need a muiltimeter for this check, with the muitimeter probe the two outer pins on the co pot which is on the hard plastic boost pipe going into the inlet manifold. On top of the co pot you should see a blue cap you need to remove this. Underneath is a screw which you can turn ether way to adjust the setting. 500ohms is a just a guidance base setting. Every car has a very slightly different setting to run at its maximum potential. 500 ohms +/- 150 ohms is again a general guide. If you find that the reading is ok then next thing to check is your lambda probe in your exhaust search the forum there is a post about it some where. My MPG has gone up to about 26 on a good run still g60 are not that good anyway. :drinking:
