Spare alloy not sitting right in boot

Hi

 

Just got a spare alloy wheel (spare sebring) and tried to fit it in my boot, and it won't go in 'spokes down' (so that the tool kit can sit in it) as the threaded stud prevents it sitting right.

 

Can you remove this threaded stud? The car had a space saver originally.

 

Anybody got a picture of their spare alloy in the well as well?

i think the car came with the space saver originaly mate...so you wont get a full size tyre in....

 

could be wrong but all the raddos ive had have had space savers

Alternatively, put the tool kit in first, then stick the wheel on top, spokes-up. to hide it - job done!

Thats what i've done at the momment, quite good actually as it supports the carpet more!

How do you explain the humped carpets in the boot then?. I had a Sebring spare when I got my car, which fitted fine 'spokes down'. I have no solution for you but it's definitely possible.

The space saver was standard with a flat boot carpet piece. But if the original owner ordered the option, ie. a full size wheel spare, the carpet came with a hump. The option in April 1995 was £240.88.

 

The wheel should go in.

they're a funny old car eh?...no pattern to them whatsoever.

Late 15gallon tank small hump (space saver)

Late 15gallon tank Large hump (full size spare)
