Henny 0 Posted July 13, 2005 yup, change the Blue temp sensor in the plastic flange on the front of the head which leads to the radiator top hose. Also check the vacuum pipe which runs from the throttle body to the ECU. This MUST be in good condition and exactly 100cm long else the car won't run properly... billinjah 0 Posted July 13, 2005 100cm long else the car won't run properly... did anyone work out if the bore is important on this i suppose it is as by specifying 100cm it means it needs an exact volume.
stevemac 0 Posted July 13, 2005 Yes - the bore is very important The 1m length combined with the bore = a specific internal volume. The bore is just as important as the length.
G60PJL 0 Posted July 13, 2005 HOW CAN I CHECK IF THE BLUE TEMP SWITCH IS FAULTY.REPLACED THE VACUUM HOSE A FEW WEEKS BEFORE THIS PROBLEM STARTED;I AM SURE LENGTH IS OK BUT WILL CHECK AGAIN .WHAT BORE SHOULD IT BE GOT IT FROM STEALERS SO I PRESUME ITS OK THANKS FOR HELP SO FAR. stevemac 0 Posted July 13, 2005 Disconnect the blue temp sensor while the engine is idling. No difference = knackered sensor If the vacuum pipe fits snugly over the outlet on the throttle body & on the ECU - it's the right diameter.
G60PJL 0 Posted July 13, 2005 CHEERS STEVE WHEN THE BLUE TEMP IS DISCONECTED SHOULD IT GO ERRATIC OR JUST CHANGE A LITTLE.

Riley 0 Posted July 14, 2005 Disconnect the blue temp sensor while the engine is idling. No difference = knackered sensor what does it mean if the revs rise when its disconnected? :( thought they were meant to drop? the co is bang on 0.5% on a machine, and i just replaced the bts with a new one and still does the same. sorry for jumping on ya topic m8,neil. billinjah 0 Posted July 14, 2005 swapping blue and black; did not really notice any difference still running really rougth either they are both knackered (does your temp guage work?) or the problem lies somewhere else. maybe lambda? check the other thread on engine bay that i started. Supercharged 2 Posted July 24, 2005 Yep, GSF sell them, ask for a new O ring too... Engine cold, pull out green retaining clip, pull/twist old BTS out, use pliers if needed, new one in with new O ring, replace clip...
beavis 0 Posted July 24, 2005 If you have a digital test meter test the resitance across the 2 pins of the blue temp sender. When the engine is fully up to temp unplug the wiring harness and test, you should be seeing a reading of between 170-220 ohms. If you are seeing figures higher than these values then the sender has had its day. You may possibly have a weak fuel pump, the symptoms you describe are also indicative of this. It may be an idea to get the fuel pressure tested.
