Exhaust Poping ?

Recommended Posts

Quick question,

My exhaust has begun to making popping noises when the engine is decelerating, why do you think it does it? And what can fix it?

Any help would be good, I'm on yet another learning curve, last week was electrics now its exhausts :(

LOL...Mr Speak & Spell :)

Mr Wales has the answer.... I reckon the flexi joints in the front pipes have a slight leak, assuming the rest of the system and manifold gaskets are sound.

Does the car have a Catalytic converter fitted? I've fitted a de-cat pipe on mine, and my exhaust pops on deceleration. I like the sound to be fair 8)

Valvers shouldn't as they have an over-run shut off valve on the metering head which yanks the flap down under vacuum conditions. VRs...well....most I've heard pop but strictly speaking they shouldn't, but most people don't mind it.

G60s, can't say I've noticed Supercharged's popping but I reckon some of em do being FI.....
