VWci 0 Posted August 11, 2005 hi fellas, i wonder that how easy is using 16v head on 8v engines ? for instance, on 1.8 8v mk2s or 2.0 8v mk3s very easy, easy, not easy, difficult :D

VWci 0 Posted August 11, 2005 So using 16v heads on G60s,mk2 8v gtis and mk3 8v gtis are difficult.... why am i asking? 16v G60 is the answer......;)
VEEDUBBED 0 Posted August 11, 2005 I've done it,fitted a 'kr' 16v head on a 'PG' block using the G60 pistons, horribly low C/R,but i was boosting nearly 2 bar turbo press...,is it difficult?,well that's quite a loaded question, how skilled are you?,what tools do you have access to? do you have a garage?,.... 1 thing is certain, the oil ways DO line up on the 'PG' block when using a 'KR' head,it's not the actual fitting,it's all the other small things that cause headscratching/swearing etc.
flusted 0 Posted August 12, 2005 like not having a breather and needing cut outs in the psitons
h100vw 0 Posted August 12, 2005 Far easier to fit low comp pistons in a KR/9A block. The 'normal' route to doing a 16VG60 as far as I am concerned is to start with a G60/PG and use a KR motor and go from there. A lot less parts to obtain. Put 16V G60 into google and lose a day or 2 reading. Gavin
billinjah 0 Posted August 12, 2005 i may go with this route next year 270 bhp with boot loads of torque sounds good to me and bm sell kits that seem to take a lot of the headaches away.
Yandards 0 Posted August 12, 2005 If you do billinjahg60 mnake sure get them to supply you with front mount alternator brackets. You will need a new alt as well though..
