-Neil- 0 Posted August 27, 2005 When i put my key into the ignition, it does nothing, then when I turn on ONE click, it gives power the the sterio, wipers, heater blowers, then ANOTHER click is the ignition for the dash/instriment displays, then ONE more is the car started. I have been told i shouldn't have this first click, it should be Key in (brings on sterio etc) turn once, dash ignition turn again, start car? Whats going on??? ben16v 0 Posted August 27, 2005 wouldnt worry about it, prob just the way someone`s wirred up the stereo mine doesnt come on when i put the key in, tbh i prefer it that way, the g/f golf turns on as soon as you put key in.... annoying if it was left on loud the day before
Andi 2,147,483,647 Posted August 27, 2005 Mine is: Keys in - nothing. Switch to ignition, accessories on, dash lights, etc. Switch to start, car starts (!), and pulls back to ignition. Switch to off - accessories stay on until keys are removed. Most handy for the car kit - so you can carry on talking with the engine off. It only disables when you remove the key (bluetooth kit). I've also wired my stereo to its own permnament live feed. Makes me take the face plate off, and means I can have it on whenever I want, regardless of keys :) Is it possible your ignition switch has been replaced with a Passat one or something? RW1 0 Posted August 27, 2005 Switch to off - accessories stay on until keys are removed. This only works for post 1990 C's onwards. The switch for this is in the lock barrel itself separate from the ignition switch. Early C's 1988 - 90 have no switch 12volts on the radio power plug, just battery 12 volts (perminant). Passat ignition switch is used on all C's. 357 905 865, the key barrel changes which brings in the 5th (radio power) switch "S". .
