Smelly Aircon

Recommended Posts

Hi

Colleague in work has got a problem with an 02 plate Audi A4. The air con works fine however releases a musty odour when used. This is apparant from startup and does not reduce when the car has warmed up.

Anyone had any similar problems and what is the common fault? Also, a rough guestimate of cost to fix would be appreciated.

Cheers

Lippy

An aircon specialist can sort that out. It's down to bugs growing in the system mostly due to lack of use.

You can apparently buy a spray to take care of this, or there is a specific 'anti-odour' service that his local VAG dealer can do to the aircon system for about £50..

I only know this cause I spotted an advert for it in my local stealers whilst with my mate who was getting some warranty stuff sorted on his Golf Anniversary :)

As stated it's caused by bacteria build up. You can buy a can of anti-bac stuff and do it yourself for next to nothing.

You just set the aircon to recirculate, set the can of stuff going, shut the door and leave it to do it's thing.

Sounds like a classic case of sweaty minge syndrome to me...

It's common knowledge that new Audi A4 drivers tend to pick up these dodgy 30-40 year old women who still think they are young and look good in leather trousers and you know what they say about them - 'Leather trousers, sweaty minge'

mate of mine had the same prob, just went to local motor factor and picked up a cleanser, like the previous post said, just start the car, put on your aircon, sit the little pot in your car and leave for the time stated! hey presto!! no more wiffy snatch ambience!!

'dodgy 30-40 year old women'

Sometimes known as 'Blonde Herrings'. Can't remember the exact description but if anyone has a profanisaurus the could look it up. Said Blonde is usually full of 'tart fuel'!
