Temperature gauge not working

Recommended Posts

I collected my G60 yesterday...i'm in love!

Coming back on the motorway I noticed that the temperature gauge wasn't working. I set the computer thingy to show the oil temp so i could keep an eye on the engine temp.

Anybody know what might be the problem? Where is the sender unit located?

thanks for your help

It sounds like the sensor has gone. It sits in the coolant hose at the front of the engine block. The temp gauge sensor is the black one. Just unplug the connector, prise out the clip that holds the sensor & pull out the old one. Refitting is reverse of removal...as they say!! It might be an idea to replace the O ring as well. NOTE: Only do this when the engine is cold i.e. with no pressure build up.

Thanks mate your a star!

As your so good at part numbers  i've just contacted my local VW dealer to try and order a 'Supercharged' badge. It was pointed out yesterday that my C is now 'upercharged'!!! . VW said that the 'Supercharged' badge is not listed. I'm sure it is a standard badge and not added afterwards.

Can you shed any light????

Yeah, the later G60's had the 'supercharged' badge on the rear panel. Probably obsolete by now.

Trimsport do the 'supercharged' badge in various sizes. I think the smallest one that I had picked up was about £5.
