pimp 0 Posted October 2, 2005 Driving home this afternoon I couldn't help but notice the car was blowing hot air from the vents when I had it turned to cold. Go me thinking what could be wrong the switch, is it not lined up correctly etc..... About 5 mins later I happen to spot my windscreen atardting to mist up a bit! Suprising to say the least as the windows were open! Then to top it off, steam starts pouring out of the dashboard vents! Not your everyday problem. Luckily I just pulling onto my driveway. I shut the car off and popped the bonnet only to iscover nothing amiss. Is this my heater matrix saying bye bye or something else not wanting to work. Any ideas guys and girls??? Steve. pimp 0 Posted October 2, 2005 Felt dry but I did stop the car as soon as it started steaming up and then left the windows open to help clear it out. Time to hit the how to's then. Cheers.
Heardy 0 Posted October 2, 2005 Has the coolant level gone down at all ?
pimp 0 Posted October 8, 2005 Sorry for the late reply, not been near the car all week. The coolant level has dropped slightly. Just below the minimum level. Could it be something other than the heater matrix??
veedub 0 Posted October 8, 2005 Mine has just gone too, bloody typical, had a bloke come too look at her (coz she is for sale) went out for a test drive and suddenly we have a 2ltr 16v sauna!! Am i right in saying that if i disconnect the 2 water pipes running into the bulkhead and fix them together with a length of pipe, i will bypass the heater system and make the car useable while i sort out getting it fixed?!!? chubbybrown 0 Posted October 8, 2005 depending on the model, some had non return valves fitted so they wouldnt drop so much coolant in the cabin. well not straight away anyway ! but it was a mod done as a recall so some obviously wouldnt have had it done. give it a few days before you get the wet carpet syndrome. veedub 0 Posted October 8, 2005 mine def did not have the non return valve! not only is it a sauna, its a swimming pool 2!!
pimp 0 Posted October 8, 2005 Mine been sitting for about 4 days without being touched. The carpet feels slightly damp. Gonna have to tear it apart I guess. Mine's going up for sale as soon as this is done as well. Gotta get something more practical apparently(4 doors).
pimp 0 Posted October 11, 2005 Just a quick update. I have managed to change the matrix. It's not that bad when you get into it, just fiddly as feck to put it back together. I'll put up for sale next week. :pukeright: :pukeleft: Getting ill just thinking about it.
