Steering rack on 1989 valver.....

Recommended Posts

Ive had my raddo now for 7 months and since purchsing it i have never been 100% sure on the steering! I have done numurous things to try and sort this out. Re-aligned steering wheel (Momo steering wheel) I have changed all bearings back and front, ball joints at the front, tie rods, Something else as well cant remember what at the mo...! doh!! i have rear axle bushes to be fitted but apparently bit of a pain to fit...would these make a difference...? ( i read somewhere on forum, highly recommended to change after 130k...!?) mine now has just over 135k on the clock! I have been to an aligment centre over in Farnham who specialise in cars like this twice to have camber adjustment, tracking, balancing etc done. On second time the bloke did say i had some play in the steering column to the left...!?

Do i need a new steering column...? has one of the pins broke/mangled in the column...?

I need help on this matter.....all help is appreciated.......(what would i do with out this forum....!!!!!!)

I don't think rear beam bushes are to bad on a valver, just drop the beam out. I had trouble on my VR6 as the rear brake compensator gets in the way... I know there's a good thread on here for changing the rear beam bushes.

My C was very unsure when braking from high speed, the back end would feel very wondery... This is now perfect having replaced the bushes with OEM parts.
