bristolbaron 10 Posted October 30, 2005 Hi there, Just thought I'd post a pic of my Corrado. One of thirteen to be NZ new. Enjoy. (Notice no side indicators) Ian Sorry to sound simple, but that was supplied new to NZ, not imported later? I was under the impression only the UK got valvers? pacificshack 0 Posted October 30, 2005 She does have a little rust on her, but nothing too much to worry about at the moment. I've spent enough on her for this year. - Serviced - new radiator - engine mounts - Alpine head unit with Alpine iPod connector - Inifnity Kappa's up front (does'nt sound great at the moment) - rear drivers wheel fixed after it was found to be warped! Next year planning - re-spray (white or blue I can't decide) - BBS RC's - lowering kit - engine mods - exhaust - sub for boot Like a lot of things they take time! It'll be a slow process - have to get things pass the wife! Or it costs double (I spend $2000 and she'll have to spend the same!)
Jim 2 Posted October 30, 2005 Keep it white! So many people try to ditch white, but its such a good colour for the Corrado :) Very nice motor indeed.
pacificshack 0 Posted October 30, 2005 Nope, she's NZ new. They cost over $60k new, so they never sold! All the RADO's here which are NZ new don' have side indicators - must be an NZ law thing. There have been some imports, but they are currently banned here because thye fail the crash test. We have to wait till 2015 to be able to import a '95 vr6 for example. (20 year wait, then it becomes a classic)
pacificshack 0 Posted October 30, 2005 She also has 157 km's on the clock and a full service VAG history...
chaz g60 0 Posted October 30, 2005 looking good mate i think i spoke to you on the v.a.s.k. forum about import laws. b.t.w. i grew up in Dunedin .
corradophil 3 Posted October 31, 2005 Looks cool, I spent 5 weeks in NZ and in that time I only saw one Corrado. It was white and in Auckland near the Sky Tower.
pacificshack 0 Posted October 31, 2005 There's a good chance that could have been me! There are a small handful in Auckland, but the only other white one I know of is in Taupo. We have a small VW community here on a site called VASK. http://www.vask.org.nz Once you log in you get access to all the info on shows, pics, etc. We're off on a mega drive a week Sunday. They'll be a convoy of VW's (mostly watercooled) off to the Coromandel for the day. I'll take some pictures of it to post on the site.
corradophil 3 Posted November 1, 2005 Cool, I will keep an eye out for the photos.
pacificshack 0 Posted November 1, 2005 Bad news yesterday - started hearing a knocking noise coming from the front. Thought it may be a CV joint issue, turns out to be gear box. Oh well there goes my Christmas :(
carpoid 0 Posted November 11, 2005 Your Corrado looks to be a good one mate - how do you go for getting parts ??
pacificshack 0 Posted November 11, 2005 Not too bad, a tad expensive though. There's a VW specialist garage that it goes to: http://www.qualitat.co.nz That's where she is at the moment getting fixed, got a knocking noise but not sure where it's coming from. Apart from that it's Ebay! I'm going back to the UK for 2 weeks in Feb, am taking an extra BIG suitcase to take bits back with me!
pacificshack 0 Posted December 1, 2005 OK, finally back from the garage. Gearbox reassembled (loose clip was to blame), and a new VR6 clutch kit installed. And guess what? Today got a new Milltek exhaust installed...
