Worst BBS ever thread

Recommended Posts

Ok thanks OSV

mine are 15' 4 stud ones,

so would they be Rm probably?

Could be either RM or RS mate. When stripping dont use any power tools as you stand more or a chance of snapping a bolt. Out of 4 wheels / 120 bolts only one snapped in my RMs.

I honestly haven't and that surprises me too, winter is a depressing time so you loose interest I was even conteplating the unthinkable...

I just hope they look as good on the car as off it. I sold the polished set with gold bolts without even turning a wheel as they didn't suit...

do you have to use a gasket when reassembling the wheels or will silicon suffice?

I assembled mine dry without any sealer. Torqued all bolts by hand and then ran a bead of sealer inside the gap between the rim and hub. Wet your finger and smooth out the sealer making sure its packed into the gap nice and tight. Left them a couple of days befroe fitting tyres and they have never leaked. There is a BBS thread on vw vortex and says this is the best way to do it but if you look in the Golf mag this month there is an article about refurbing BBS and it says to run sealer around the two mating surfaces and then assemble.

Have to say OSV, those wheels look truely awesome, pure class 8)
