Kevin Bacon 5 Posted November 24, 2005 Was the Mivec V6 available in 94? Sounds a bit old to me, but anyway, on paper the Mivec should trounce it if it's the regular 2.0 GT. If it's the GT4, then the tables might turn slightly..... Now....would an Allegro 1500 TC beat my mate's Talbot Horizon 1300?
chrishill 0 Posted November 24, 2005 i dunno, but against my dads old Talbot Solara you'd have NO chance.

steve_16v 0 Posted November 24, 2005 Was the Mivec V6 available in 94? yep, I considered one of these before the rado but decided I couldn't live with the look of the rear
GIXXERUK 0 Posted November 24, 2005 i would say the 1500 allegro , didnt they have twin su's and a square steering wheel now the lotus talbot sunbeam .. that was special
chrishill 0 Posted November 24, 2005 :offtopic1: heh, my mum had a sunbeam (although not the lotus incarnation) followed by an allergo vandem plas, then a mustard/brown saab 96 which looked like a big steel poo. she got class my mum. edit - for the sake of completion, heres a titanium-turd look a like. Walesy 0 Posted November 24, 2005 allergo vandem plas posh kid eh?...I believe the vanden plas was la top au le range.... EDIT-- and yes...that is quite pooh-esque
GIXXERUK 0 Posted November 24, 2005 iirc the lotus sunbeam was 6.6 0-60 with a 2.2 engine in 1979 !!
chrishill 0 Posted November 24, 2005 aye, it had a big chrome (probably just painted silver) grille on it and faux-wood trim inside, i thought it was a rollsroyce. ahhh nostalgia!
GIXXERUK 0 Posted November 24, 2005 http://www.austin-rover.co.uk/index.htm?vdpsmallf.htm the vanden plas was the top of range of a bottom of the range car :-) allegro, marina, princess, and what did ford have the escort, cortina, capri .... no competition
chrishill 0 Posted November 24, 2005 yeah but it had a square steering wheel...SQUARE!
Walesy 0 Posted November 24, 2005 feck..i don't remember the grill being like that....that's a bit mutton dressed as lamb that is. My mate had a Austin Meastro Vanden plas when he passed his test, and fair do's to the thing it was a rock...buy the time he got rid of it the interior had been stripped out by drunken fools and there wasn't an unkicked panel on the thing. He drove it with practicaly no oil for a few thousand miles and then topped it up and it ran fine again....a tank. Anyway...I hope that answers your question comprehensivly Fritz
