alan_edward 0 Posted November 28, 2005 How could have this happened? It blew when idling. The car was not even taken to more than 3k rpm for the drive. It shows a crack betwen the two pieces on it. I am thinking whether it is worth replacing the charger or changing the engine to a VR6 one. Not sure at the moment. BTW, How much would I be looking for another charger or even an engine conversion including a decent engine. Alan

I dont have the receipt unfortunately, but I can show you my paypal screen from when I paid for it....looking for around £650, with 65mm steel pulley or 68mm alu one. alan_edward 0 Posted November 29, 2005 I dont really know when the charger was serviced. I am assuming sometime in 2003. Not sure though. Could be earlier. G-werks are sorting me a rebuilt charger. So going on with that at the moment. Cheers, Alan

Walesy 0 Posted December 12, 2005 sweeeeeeeet You can safely say that your old charger was a bit knackered though..
Neil VR6 0 Posted December 12, 2005 Nice looking engine bay there alan_edwards. I like the sprayed up alternator cover. Is that hard to do? (I've got some VW primer and paint kicking around somewhere!)
catch_twotwo 0 Posted December 12, 2005 Ouch... just feel lucky it didn't go at speed and take parts of your engine with it...

(I've got some VW primer and paint kicking around somewhere!) Its normal paint. It was done by the old owner. Looking at the work, I dont think its hard at all. Tempest 0 Posted December 12, 2005 just feel lucky it didn't go at speed and take parts of your engine with it... That's why its worthwhile sticking a fine meshed filters in both the main boost and boost return pipe. OK, that may lead to a slight loss of power when you're at a rolling road day (like on mine recently), but you're safe in the knowledge that if the Lader decides to spit out its guts, you won't contaminate the intercooler and engine :-) Tempest
