What size are the discs on the VR6 ?

Any recommendations for a good front end setup without upsetting Mr Bank Manager ?

Same size as the G60 then ?

Strange that - with an extra 30bhp and heavier engine you would think VW would upgrade the front brakes!

The badger5 setup is 305mm so you'll need at least 16s to run it.

But at £450 including calipers, carriers, hoses, discs, pads.... ain't half-bad!!

"Limited stock" though... how many that means

later vr6 had 288mm brakes on the front :salute:

i'm afraid thats a popular myth....all vr6 corrado's came with the 280mm discs and they never changed sizes at all....my storm which has an april 95 built date and which was registered in december 95 has 280 mm discs corrado production if i remember rightly was stopped in jun/jul 95

thats what i mean about a popular myth

all mk3 gti 16v's and vr6's got 288mm discs from the 96 model year....that is any september 95 build dates onwards

seriously darren next time you have a standard 96(which would have been built no-later than jul95 btw) corrado vr6 in check the brakes.....i think you'll find i'm right....if i'm wrong then i'll buy you a pint at inters :D

and one other thing to prove it.....phone your local stealer's parts dept....there is only 1 listing for discs for corrado vr6's.....280mm :)

right scott m8....the standard discs are 280mm....the cheapest and most minor upgrade you can get is ATE power groove discs from euro-car-parts they are approx £3 per disc dearer than the standard one listed by themselves and approx £5 per disc cheaper than what a stealer would charge

and cos they're ATE they are o/e or better standard

Yeah stealth confirmed the VR6 never got the 288 discs, or the OBDII injection :-(

Then why would they if they're going to axe it?

Stealth do the Brembo 4 pot kit fitted for £475. Or for slightly more you can use 4 motion discs but you need bigger wheels.

I've put pagid black grooved discs and fast road pads on mine and they are superb. No warping as yet, which they're known for.

Cheers

Kev

Cheers guys *:)

I landed up going to gsf and buying 280mm zimmerman oe discs... with pagid pads... cost me just under 100 squids all in... run them in for 100 miles being nice and gentle....

So why DO they FADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????

Twice I braked hard from high speed... third time they started fading.... thought would expected more from new setup ? - Got back home and they were smoking on the fronts!

I know that I am well late with this piece of info but, I'm running the Zimmerman Cross Drilled and vented discs at front and rear (280 and 226m respectively i think) with pagid fast road pads, standard calipers and goodrich braided hoses. When I had all of the above fitted I had a fluid and rear bearing change by my VW specialist.I get some shudder through the steering wheel when breaking but I think that it is wheel orientated-they need balancing.Which 4 pot calipers would any of you recommend to complete my setup?Should I just stay with the standard calipers as the horsepower of my corrado is not exactly immense?!!!All of the above came to about £450 fitted......
