Both the Corrados I have owned have passed their first MOTs with me straight through, after much bricking by myself. Positive thoughts on way.

My bahn brenner passed on nearly everything, except a bald tyre! I mean theres no way in hell it should have passed emissions, it didn't have any side repeaters and it was on german number plates.

All down to Cardiff for your MoTs!

Yeah its my first MOT with this car.... it should be ok but theres always the unknown little voice saying "Rear caliper/handbreak's not that great..." and "you've ripped the cat off and you expected to pass....!?" or " suspensions on its way out" or " rear wheel bearings are lose..." arrghhhhhh!!!!!

I want to sought it all out when I do the rear axle bush's in the summer....

plus the chargers coming up for service....

and I'm in the middle of buying a flat!!!

Going to start tearing my hair out and climbing the walls me thinks....

I had one in November and i was sure something might come up, but she passed with flying colours. Tommorow i will try transmit postive pass thoughts, but you won't need them, it will pass easily :)

Best of luck.

Just a word of warning if the MOT place is on the new computerised MOT system, you'll need to take your V5 (log book) or they can't issue the certificate!

is it true that with the new system if the car fails it needs to be booked again for a new mot, there is no time given to do repairs and take the car back as a retest.

I thought the new system entitled you to a free retest? Or are we getting screwed again?

i dont think it does now but the new system is so much stricter as they have to log it on computer when i put my golf mk2 8v done they pulled it up on loads of things

where when i got it done the time before it went straight through and if anything it was in better condition the 2nd timne as id spent alot on engine and suspension

it also failed on having no middle seat belt but it was under the seat and the matey didnt even look i had to take my bca induction kit off emissions too high all a ball ache!

so i give u loads of good wishes as i know how worrying it is!

It failed.....

Offside rearparking break (stuck piston)

and thats it!!!

Thing is I can fix that well easy and get it back to them first thing tomorrow but it looks like I'll have to pay for another full mot check because "its on a computer now" £35 per mot.... what a rip!!!

What a great start to the new year.....!!

Cheers for your thoughts though guys it all helps

That's crap. I've MOT'd several cars at different places since the computerised system came in and I haven't paid for a re-test at any of them. Conditions vary from 'must be returned within 48 hours' to 'returned with less than 100 miles extra'.

£35 is pretty reasonable for an MOT though. It's £40 at the places I use.

Yeah looking at the rear of the MOT Refusal certificate it tells of all the acceptable and non acceptable failures for free retest.... brakes are not on the list for free re-mot..... D'oh!!!!

It doesn't matter anyway... I managed to shear a bolt off the caliper so i got to drill it out and find a replacement..... its the one the holds the handbrake return spring on... anyone got a spare or know where i can get one from?

think a trip to the breakers is on the cards for me.......

Not true at all.Who told you that?

You don't need to take any paperwork with you.

Unless you want your certificate postdating then you need to take it with you.

IT PASSED!!!!!!!!

And i didn't have to pay!!!!!!

I take back what i said.... don't know if it's on the garages discretion or something??

All sorted!!! managed to get a bolt from Angmering vw and audi spares although I was sad to see 2 corrado's on top of a scrap pile.... :(

My only consolation is that there helping other corrado's to stay on the road......

The new computerization is an ongoing improvement, when the V5 is asked for its to identify Date of registration(the exact date) which is needed and to identify the model as not all testers know the model of the vehicle thay are testing.

If your vehicle fails on minor items ie-bulbs,tyres,wipers ect its a fast pass and no need for a full retest.

Any mechanical work that has been done needs to have a full MOT retest to check for anything that has been disassembled and reassembled correctly or if the customer brings it back the next working day it can be a fast pass retest.(depends on the work carried out)

Not all garages charge for full retest its there discretion. They have to input on the computer "repaired by VTS" to get past this.

Glad its passed. :thumb right:

Oh and im a tester

The computer usually know's what year of registration the vehicle is.(not that it allways matches up the V5 though as i've found a few times now).

You would think so  Mainly its for model /type.(l,ls,gt,gti,rs ect)

As most cars have no badges on the rear now,so you have no model engine size ect.

Then it asks you for engine number ! yea right you'll never find that !
