was8v 0 Posted February 11, 2006 a mate just text me: "do you know if theres a paste that dries hard on cars? the petrol tank is leaking but u can see where its leakin from, only a small hole" Before I mock him, is there anything? I would think all that can be done is weld it up (making sure fumes are cleared first...) or fit another tank. Its a cinquencento btw.... gonna be cheapest to fit another tank methinks. sciroccotune 0 Posted February 11, 2006 you 'can' get stuff, but it rearely works. may be worth a shot if its a small hole. HAlfords sell it. I guess if he jacks up the car and leaves it over night it may seal. never lasts for ever of course.
mk2_20vt 0 Posted February 11, 2006 Think most of the repair kits you can get such as this: http://www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp?productID=8232 are meant for metal tanks in older cars. i wouldn't have thought it would work in a plastic tank like in the cinquecento. Best to fit a new one or one from a scrappy.

Banana Man 0 Posted February 12, 2006 theres a product called petro patch its a paste which is supposed to be very good. I haven't used it myself but when I use to work in a motor factors, mechanics were always coming in for the stuff and said it works very well. For peace of mind I would get a new tank, but as a temp fix use petro patch!
