Rad Leak

Recommended Posts

Bonjour

After Trigger had given my g60 a little blast on Sunday, we lifted the hood and noticed a leak from the bit i've pictured on top of the rad.

Does anyone know if there's a gasket/seal in there that could have gone? or do I need to replace the whole part?

part no for piece is 535 121 647.

Thats the number for the whole 90 degree elbow assembly is it?

Mines cracked due to a previous owner over tightening. Would I need to flush the cooling system after replacing this or would the air work its way out of its own accord?

How easy it is to get that hose clip off? are they reuseable or will the new elbow come with a new one?? Sorry for all these q's I don't have ETKA :)

The hose clip will be re-useable, get the new elbow, O ring seal and 2 new bolts tho...

Easy to change (cold engine and take cap off to release any pressure) and If your careful then you can swap it without loosing any coolant...

Be careful with the bolts as they screw into the plastic rad surround (new rad's are £150!)

They'll try and sell you a new Golf, to help get you out of that 'old banger' or some nonsense ;)
