Think my VR needs a rebore

Recommended Posts

Just got the tope end rebuilt on my vr, to try and stop the smoke from following me down the road, but its not stopped it, now guessing it;l be rings gone! I've heard about the no's 1 and 6 ovalling, so how much would it cost to rebore the block and fit new pistons, bearing in mind that me and a few mates can do all the stripping and rebuilding work ourselves, only bit we can do obv is the machine work.

How much roughly would i be looking at for a rebore, and how much are the parts likely to come to?

cheers

Dude, the thread(s) you posted on earlier should answer some/most of those questions. Plus you've bumped it/them back up so there's not really any need to start a new one. I'd give Stealth/PSI/The Phirm a ring for a quote.

A rebore is about 150 or so.

Pistons are about 500 upwards afaik.

I guess you'd then need piston rings, and probably bearings etc. Maybe another 2 or 300 or so from what i've seen and read.

Try this http://hiflowheads.co.uk (engine rebuilds page) for rough prices of bits and bobs mate.
