Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 24, 2006 A worn box mount usually causes a reluctant gear shift and general engine floppiness!
matt_corradovr6 0 Posted May 24, 2006 erm. all seems to be ok. box a bit stiff when cold first thing in the morning but ok otherwise. how long does it take to change?? is it the big mount that u can see if you look down towards back of the engine. they said both rear box mounts are broken? are there 2? bear in mind they have just told me i need my bke fluid changed and it was changed by an independant last week! ardandy 0 Posted May 24, 2006 I'd change it if I was you. My mount had gone and the flex in the engine rubbed my oil cooler pipe until it burst. Go for the Golf MK3 TDI engine mount, same as the Corrado one, just uprated. About £25 from GSF (recommended by g-man) and only 1 hours labour to fit. bcstudent 0 Posted May 24, 2006 It's a piece of piss with a four-post lift but a bugger to change on axle stands. For the few quid it'd cost at a garage I'd recommend making it someone else's problem!
CazzaVR 0 Posted May 24, 2006 Can't you just undo two of the mounts and jack up the engine, using the secured mount as a pivot? Don't think you need axle stands :?
ardandy 0 Posted May 24, 2006 It cost me £25 to get it fit whilst I was shopping. Not worth the hassle TBH!

I've forgotten exactly what is required to change the gearbox mount but, when I did mine, I definitely needed to be underneath the car to undo something at one point. You wouldn't easily get that far under without axle stands.
