making a vr chassis feel like new....

Recommended Posts

so, assuming that the engine isnt going to die i have money to spend elsewhere.

thinking goes that tightening up the handling and ride would be a better investment than the cheaper bolt on power mods...

so, what would people reccomend i change??

Koni shocks and PI springs for a nice drop and superb ride.

Bushes and top mounts inc rear axel bushes if they havnt already been done.

If you want to carry on modding to improve the original, a rear strut brace sharpens things up, and better rear anti roll bar.

Powerflex are too hard for day to day road use unless you are used to, and prefer, very sporty firm suspension, I believe

I'd go for VAG bushes all-round (not GSF ones!) and if you're feeling flush, VibraTechs ones instead. They are about 3x the price tho!

Try solid top mounts day-to-day, powerflex are piles rings by comparison :-)

Yep, all 3. Front is competition spec and the rear two are fast road spec.

A little more vibration than stock but nothing serious.

im a new VR owner and wanted to do the same as you so ve just changed the following on my VR

All front bushes

Bottom Arms

Top mounts

Balljoints

Track rod ends

Drop links

Braided hoses & fluid change

4 X Discs & pads

Koni coilovers

F&R Eibach ARB's

There was nothing really wrong with the suspension on my car but it had one knock on the passenger side. I changed everything on the car as i hate messing on with cars fixing things one @ a time so i decided i would do all of them at once, @ the end of the day the car is 12 years old so they will want doin . I fitted all VAG parts apart from the drop links and the difference is unbelievable it is much tighter and feels like a new car. Goin to fit 2 strut braces now.

Definatly worth doing, whats the point in spending money on wheels/stickers etc for a car if it drives like a monster !!!!

Can defo recommend a rear turret brace, the front isn't so important but it helps stop the turrets pulling apart when putting looney power down and when cornering very hard.

Kev - I've got a trimsport brace, am I going to struggle to get it to fit with my scape amp panel?
