Lippy 0 Posted June 23, 2006 bally - tell me about the brembos mate, nightmare or what. Can the s2 calipers from g-werks run bigger discs than 280 (or is is 288?) or is that the max? what kind of power do ppl think + 300mm brakes are needed?
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted June 23, 2006 You can get carrier relocation brackets to move the OE calipers further out, which will allow you to run bigger discs. That's about the cheapest way of doing it. what kind of power do ppl think + 300mm brakes are needed? The VR needs bigger brakes in standard form, let alone after adding more power! Depends really..... you just add power and if you find the brakes aren't up to it, you uprate them accordingly, but the 312 setup is fine for the majority of people. 4 pots will give you a much greater clamping force so you don't need a massive disc to get the required results, around 310mm would be fine. sciroccotune 0 Posted June 23, 2006 so what discs could be run and does anyone know wher to get the carrier spacers? :-)
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted June 23, 2006 Didn't the 4 stud ibiza curpa run 312s? I'm sure the now defunct TSR used to sell the carrier brackets. They used to do packages of carrier brackets, Black diamond discs, braided lines and Ferodo pads. Used to work really well. Personally I'd go balls out and get some Porsche calipers off ebay, they don't go for mega bucks. Carriers, bells etc etc can all be made to order at places like http://www.bgdevelopments.co.uk for example.
