Best springs for ride quality?

Recommended Posts

Hi, My Corrado is currently running with a full Koni setup, however I find the ride quality a bit harsh unless you have it on the softer settings which kind of defeats the object. Which springs would improve the ride whilst allowing me to tighten up the shocks? Or do you think the ride could be down to worn bushes/mounts? Which is the best way to go??

Eibachs sport springs for the Corrado are rock hard. Avoid if you want comfort.

Eibach do custom spring rates though. 170-180lbs is about right for a VR.

I've got some Eibach springs you can have for £50.

I might have some of my fillings in the box with them too

That seems a rather indepth question that is mostly down to your OWN preferences and interpretation of what is "comfortable".

The only way to have comfort and yet firm enough ride to give good handling is via a Variable Rate Spring - which most of them are. For example (click); you can see the coil becomes tighter (firmer), yet the open part of the coil gives initial comfort over tiny bumps.

or theres the: Bilstein PSS9 Hieght & Damping Adjustable Coilover Kit.

You need to know the different rates as Kev says then see which YOU prefer.

Eibach do custom spring rates though. 170-180lbs is about right for a VR.

This site has loads of makes so might give you some ideas. There a variable rate shock, adjustable height etc etc.
