Those seals along the roof...

Recommended Posts

Can you buy new seals? The strips that run along either side of the roof, the black rubber/plastic seals, are starting to perish, and I'd like to replace them before winter. Sorry to sound so vague but I can't think what else to call them!

Also the sunroof rubber seal looks pretty sad as well - do I need a stock part for this?

Thanks!

should be able to get them all from GPC or VAG, but with the roof rubbers they don't look too bad if you just trim off the thin perished edge bit all the way along with a new stanley blade.

The thin bit is all coming away anyway, no need for a stanley knife! Holy crap, £65 best buy? Will it be ok to leave them then with the thin bits taken off? They won't leak and make the roof corrode?

How about the sunroof seal? Wait, I hear it coming, my credit card is groaning already...

If they are mainly cosmetic, I'll spend the squids on getting the handbrake sorted out instead then. It sounds like a really old person being poked with sticks when it has to hold the car on any sort of slope. Kind of screeching and groaning. It's embarrassing.

Thanks for your input everyone!

It squeals even in gear, especially when I get in or out of it if I have to leave it on a slope, it kind of graunches - and I'm not really that much of a salad dodger! Must fix it!

ps, what's a Walesy?

How would it look if you simply reomved the roof strips and polished up the whole area?
