VR6 spark plug cover removal

When taking the covers off what tool did any one use, was it a special thing or did you just use a torx bit??

 

Thought id best ask as i dont fancy fluffing it!!

you need the special multi splined bit. you usually get them in the torx kits. you can sometimes do them with a normal allen key if there not too tight, the allen key has to have a flat face not domed.

Job done!!

 

Managed with an allen key as they werent really that tight.

 

Can definitely confirm that HT lead removal /refitting is a pain in the backside!!!

Someone on here sells them for £15 - I got one - plenty of others got one.

I think it was zerocool.

Use search - there's plenty about them.

the confines of the engine make it near enough if not impossible to get the leads off/on without "snatching" the leads and risk damaging them.......as standard all VR's came with a plastic removal tool on the bonnet stay but this has about as much use a chocolate fireguard
