Rob_B 0 Posted September 30, 2006 has anyone had any problems with oil pumps from euro car parts? ive got some low oil pressure going on and as the pump is the only thing that makes the pressure i would hazard a guess at that being knackered
Crasher 3 Posted October 2, 2006 What torque did you tighten the two M8 13-mm bolts to?
Rob_B 0 Posted October 2, 2006 cant remember off hand, would that make much of a difference?
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted October 2, 2006 Over tightening them can distort the pump housing slightly, which can affect pressure.
Rob_B 0 Posted October 2, 2006 i dont think i overtightened them it drove for quite a while without any problems, then suddenly i get the oil pressure light on all the time leads away from this point in my eyes i wouldnt be so bothered about changing the pump and stuff if it wasnt such a ball ache to do keep em coming party people
peteTDI 0 Posted October 2, 2006 have you checked the pressure? it maybe a faulty switch or wiring?
Crasher 3 Posted October 2, 2006 The pump bolts should be tightened up to 20Nm, any more and that will kill the pump. What make of pump was it?
Rob_B 0 Posted October 4, 2006 its a febi oil pump i do have an oil pressure guage in the car, which isnt giving me encouraging readings, and the switch seems to be coming on when its supposed to. guess it looks like a genuine pump for me
