Saint Tricky 0 Posted October 14, 2006 Hello Just drove home with my newly aquired Corrado G60 today, gave it a little oomph around a roundabout and heard a squealing noise followed by a distinct lack of power. I pulled over to find a pipe has popped off, I put it back on and drove home carefully but without the jubilee clip it came off again. Here is a picture of where it came off. The hose looks a little tatty at the end. What is the hose called and what does it do? Will my engine have knackered? Where can I buy a replacement from if I need to? Thank you for you wisdom. I'd do a search for it but don't know what it's called. T
W3RKD 0 Posted October 14, 2006 it will contiune to come off until you replace the jubilee clip. Im sure it will be fine after that.
Saint Tricky 0 Posted October 14, 2006 Thanks for your reply. The end of the hose is slightly torn so the jubilee clip slips off of the end when I fully tighten it. Am I able to cut 10mm off of the hose and try to reposition it or is it a pre shaped hose meaning it would be a bad idea? Does anyone know what this hose is called/part number and where I can get a replacement from cheap? Thanks T
Tempest 0 Posted October 14, 2006 Best to replace that hose with a new one, as it might perish further down the hose from where you've observed it perishing. VW part number: 535 145 838 (if your G60 has chassis number above 50-M-000 661, else part number: 357 145 838A) That hose conducts the compressed air (compressed by the G-lader, cooled down by the intercooler, then travelling through the plastic pipe with the CO-pot and temp-sensor attached on the side) through this hose into the throttle-body. Saint Tricky 0 Posted October 14, 2006 Thanks Tempest, your a star. Really appreciate you giving me the part numbers and the description of what it does is damn useful too. Hopefully I can get one asap so I can drive my new ride. Cheers T
kongo127 0 Posted October 14, 2006 Clean the pipe and hose with some brake cleaner spray to get rid of oil, before you attach them togheter. I´m pretty sure you´ll get sorted! :)
Saint Tricky 0 Posted October 15, 2006 Clean the pipe and hose with some brake cleaner spray to get rid of oil, before you attach them togheter. I´m pretty sure you´ll get sorted! :) Nice one. I trimmed the edge of the pipe nice and square, cleaned all of the surfaces until dry, reversed the pipe so the weaker end fixed on the metal part rather than plastic and it's great now. Even managed to find the original jubilee clip in the engine bay. :) Also, found the start of a part number 535 145 --- so I know which one to buy to replace it if it goes again, cheers Tempest. Now for some fun. Thanks to all. T
