Roadie 0 Posted October 10, 2003 I bought my G60 about a year ago and she looks FINE :) When I got her she needed a bit of work but was happy, she drove well and Uber quick... I then made a terrible mistake and since then it is now at the point where I hate my car and just want to sell it and move on and put it down as a bad experience. I took my car to a 'VW and Audi specialist' in North London, which I spotted in the Corrado club website. I was impressed by the owner Dwain who I felt could be trusted with my new puppy. How wrong I was  I asked him to service the car and also check the car out and let me know of any impending problems that he notices. He checked it out and with the service and a few other things was quoted roughly £400 for the lot and after that would get NO problems, cool I thought so off I went. When my car was ready for collection I was very pleased paid and left.... I got 50 yards and had to go back as they had somehow disconnected my charger  1/2 an hour later off I went charger reconnected. I had to go back the following weekend to have the new radiator fitted that he had ordered me, again I went to collect paid the remaining money and left.... I got 100 yards down the road to then find steam pouring out of my engine  I got towed back to garage to find they had not connected the radiator. I left thinking that was the end of it..... Oh no! A few days later I was checking my bank account and was concerned to find payments going to a company I had never heard of let alone bought from  I checked the ammounts, I checked out the major autopart company but I had not spent a penny with this company. Increasingly concerned I made many frantic phone calls trying to find out why in excess of £200 was coming out of my account for things I had never bought.... Only to eventually discover that Dwain from the 'specialist VW and Audi' garage was paying for things with MY credit card numbers!! This not be the end of the story it got alot worse :( but needless to say I am now left with a car that I feel is about to die on me but with no idea what is wrong with it apart from the awful noises it now makes. (me NO mechanic) So.... can anyone please recommend a garage that they trust 100% and who are fair and reasonably priced and who don't just RIP YOU THE FUCK OFF!!!!! This is my last ditched attempt at fixing my car before I torch it Please help, I live in North West London and would rather stay pretty local but will travel if needs be. I tried to find a piccy of my G60 but failed, I have posted a pic on the website but was along time ago.
Blown 0 Posted October 10, 2003 Right, first off,get yourself a lawyer,as what he has done is illegal and almost certainly theft.Using your credit card details without your authorisation, and from what you say you can also prove it,then you can take him to a small claims court and claim back the amount he has put on your card and also possibly the cost of the "work" he has(nt) done.Even if you went to the police I'm pretty sure that they would take a dim view of this as well. Secondly I would love to be able to point you in the direction of a good garage, but as I live roughly 100million miles from anywhere I can't,But I'm sure someone on here will know of a good garage. 8) Good luck. :)
dazzyvr6 0 Posted October 10, 2003 man that is real bad, someone you thought you trusted but the just basicly ripped you off,did you get any money back??i just did a google search on the net and came up with..Universal VW And Audi Ltd (200 yards) Map2 Latimer Ind Est,Latimer Rd, London W10 6RQ020 89685319...please dont tell me thats the one that ripped you off
GazzaG60 0 Posted October 10, 2003 the best garage is your own garage. nobody treats your car as well as yourself.
Roadie 0 Posted October 10, 2003 http://www.usedvwcars.com/ This is the garage  And I would Love to use my own garage but... I don't have one and I wouldn't know where to start if I did. As I am no mechanic :(
dazzyvr6 0 Posted October 10, 2003 get hold of a bently manual,or even a lindsay porter one and read it right through, you can do most things yourself and if your stuck there are loads of people on here that will give you plenty of good advice, even if its just doing oil changes it would save you money :D
dan 0 Posted October 10, 2003 Welcome back Roadhog, long time no see :) Sorry to hear about your troubles m8. Unfortunitly I can't reccomend any garages as I live about 200million miles away. Just name & shame that garage as much as you can although, you still need to be carefull he doesn't try & sue you for that as well
Roadie 0 Posted October 10, 2003 It would be unwise for him to even try to sue me...... as my car would not be the only thing getting torched. Sounds harsh.... but I AM THAT P***** OFF!!! *Roadhog counts to ten and breathes* Where could I get the so said manual?
Guest Posted October 10, 2003 amazon stocked it when I looked, but it was 90 quid odd :( Thera
Guest Posted October 10, 2003 type "corrado" in the search on http://www.amazon.co.uk Bentley manual is £94.95 Lindsey Porter is £13.99 Bentley is worth the money mate, seems expensive, but you'll have that easily Thera. ps, I'm not quite sure what the price is, reading the "buy new: £81.21" Or "buy used: £84.50" section, it sorta confuses me, but I think £94.95 is the real price :)
Valver 0 Posted October 10, 2003 i think the best person to help you might be someone like 8vg60 (Darren) from g-werks. Not 100% sure where he's based but I'd be willing to travel a little for someone you can trust imo! HTH 8)

Jim 2 Posted October 10, 2003 Yikes. I can't believe the nerve (read stupidity) of some people. I hope you nail this idiot Roadhog.. I'd definately speak to Darren - he's a really helpful guy and I am sure he can give you some top advice. EVERYONE on the forum who has had work done with him has been very happy, and if I were to buy a Corrado G60, he'd be getting my business without a doubt. Tattie 0 Posted October 10, 2003 Get the Bentley manual off the Amazon.com website not Amazon.co.uk! Cost $101 inc P&P and takes about 1-2 weeks to get to you. Costs approx £70 then instead of £90+ Thats what I did

Beetlebug_2001 0 Posted October 11, 2003 I feel for you man, luckly most of my work is done from home as my dads a mechanic in his spare time, im from the north east so wouldnt know of any good garages, if i where you id sue the basta*d for the credit card fraud thats apaling (dunno if i spelt that right) you could go as far as sueing for stress if need be to help fund the full work needed to get your C right, i defo would not just leave it at that, you'll find with a lot of work your doing it can be done from home all it takes is a few tools which you could maybe borrow from a friend and take notes of what goes where if changeing things, for bigger jobs it might save you money to invest in one of the manuels mentioned, good luck with it all and i hope it all goes well, but seriously if possible sue that garage for every penny they have got and it will help fund putting your C right, get in touch with your soliciter to see where u stand, i personally think the odds are in your favour.
