dubster82 0 Posted October 12, 2003 Hi, Im looking for an uprated front engine mount for my G60 and was wondering if anyone knew of any that werent the same rather large price as the vibratech ones? Cheers
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted October 12, 2003 Volksport used to do some rather nice (and indestructible) H/D rubber front mounts but I don't know what happened to Volksport after G&S bought out Autocavan, who I used to get my Volksport stuff through. The mount was around £60 a few years ago. It's worth noting that the Vibratechnics mounts have been improved in recent years and replacable inserts are available for them. Tattie 0 Posted October 12, 2003 Volkspeed bought out/took over a lot of the parts Autocavan used to make/sell. When Volkspeed stopped trading from the Garage in Bentley, Neil started to do a limited amount of work from home. Neil recently serviced my car, replaced the cam belt and sent the charger off to Jabbasport for refurb. At the same time he also fitted one of the indestructable Volksport front engine mounts. They aren't cheap though!! About a £100. If you are interested in one I'll PM Neils phone number.
Banana Man 0 Posted October 12, 2003 Brian I got mine made at a local bike specialists they build loads of high performance bikes for road and track specs I supplied him with an old engine mount and he used the bottom bracket off of it and then made the rest out of billet alloy I was well impressed with it I am sure he would make another one for me if you were interested and it would cost you about £20- £30. heres a picture of mine

G-Lader 0 Posted October 12, 2003 i need one of these, after checking the vw price they were over £100 so Im kinda leaning towards GSF at £50 but they list two types? Does it make a lot of diff. spending loads on a performance one when the over engine mounts are standard and pretty old - would not have thought so myself so I think I'll look for what I think is the best value (not that any bit of rubber at that price can be described as good value!) dubster82 0 Posted October 12, 2003 Standard ones arent £100 are they? i got jabba to do mine and im sure it said something like £8 on the receipt.. probably wrong tho....
h100vw 0 Posted October 12, 2003 Try one of these. 191 199 279E engine mount. I think GSF do one that ends in and 'F'. These tend to be much tougher than the std hydraulic one. If you have the facilities to weld, you can open it up and fill the holes in the rubber block inside. Then squeeze it back together in a vice and weld it back together. Some 6-8mm round bar fills the holes nicely. Cheers Gavin
