Mancorr 0 Posted December 25, 2006 Had the dash out of my C today. Worked out all, well most of the wires! Now i have an Astra GTE digi-dash that im in the middle of modding using light green illumination instead of the yellow. Im going to install it when finished into my C...be a bit different! I installed one on my old RS Turbo Escort and 1.9 205 Pug so now a Corrado! Got to find the correct transducer as the one i have is wrong for the dash. Will keep all up to date with pics etc :)

-Neil- 0 Posted December 26, 2006 how would you like a new wiring harness for your digi dash? i brought this ages ago but never fitted it. Its for the Astra GTE digi dash. Got the transducer pulse sender on it too... Neil

Pau1 0 Posted December 26, 2006 Has anyone tried fitting VW's digifiz dash at all?
mk1g60 0 Posted December 26, 2006 i sold my mates black 16v rado that had a digi dash from an astra fitted, everything worked exept the speedo. sold it on ebay to a guy from ireland. looked half decent too in black, smoothed bumper etc, (bit similar to jbob's but no where near as tidy)
bcstudent 0 Posted December 26, 2006 I've got a GTE dash and loom in the shed somewhere too. It was one of those things I always intended to put on eBay but never got 'round to.
-Neil- 0 Posted December 26, 2006 Has anyone tried fitting VW's digifiz dash at all? whats one of those?
Mancorr 0 Posted December 26, 2006 The VW digi's are rare as rocking horse poo! One big trouble with them.....they all came in KMH and could not be changed to MPH :(
BigTartanJudge 0 Posted December 26, 2006 One for sale over on ed38 just now, been there ages too: http://www.edition38.com/forums/index.p ... 69262&st=0 He wants £180 for it, comes with all sensors etc. And here's a fitting guide for it: http://www.dutch-specialgolf.com/digifiz.htm Cheers
G60SC_Stoney 0 Posted December 26, 2006 didnt they only come in golfs tho ? so how are you going to modify the dashboard so that it still looks factory?? the corrado clocks are wider than mk2 golf ones, so you are going to end up with two holes either side?? Critical_Mass 10 Posted December 26, 2006 Knight Rider.... I was thinking the same thing. Not sure whether i like them or not.
BigTartanJudge 0 Posted December 26, 2006 It would be pretty straightforward to make up some sort of blanking plate to go either side of the clocks either fixed to the clocks themselves or the sides of the dash. Reckon it would be a nice mod and something different as haven't seen one done into a rado before.
Mancorr 0 Posted December 26, 2006 It would be pretty straightforward to make up some sort of blanking plate to go either side of the clocks either fixed to the clocks themselves or the sides of the dash. Thats the bit im stuck on! I offered the dash upto the dash where the original cloks were and as G60SC_Stoney said....a nice big gap either side :( Changed the colour from yellow to green but might go for the red to match my car. I want the mod to look good, dont want a chav looking thing. Its easy to get away with a chav mod in an RS Turbo or 205 GTI etc but in a cult car such as a Carrado is a mahoosive sin to make look chav :!:
BigTartanJudge 0 Posted December 26, 2006 Just dremel up some blanking plates from old plastic e.g. centre-console or scrap balck bits from interior e.g. parcel-shelf supports (I have a few if needed), screw into side of digi-dash or just stick on with ds-tape and job done (or fix the same bits to side of original dash aperture to shorten the available hole to the right size for the cluster to fit through. I can't see it being that difficult tbh ?
G60SC_Stoney 0 Posted December 26, 2006 are the digital clocks higher than the standard corrado ones ? if not you could use the corrado cover (transparent bit) and somehow stick on some black plastic extensions onto the side, them smooth them off with wet n' dry then spray them black to match up without any visable seems showing? But...if the clocks are taller then i dont see how it can happen without the clocks getting covered by the dash.... but yeah if you can do it i think it might look good, something different at the very least, i just dont think it can be made to look very factory.... **didnt think ugly aston martin (think it was the lagonda??) have a digital dash ? or am i talking a load of toilet ? Mancorr 0 Posted December 26, 2006 **didnt think ugly aston martin (think it was the lagonda??) have a digital dash ? or am i talking a load of toilet ? Indeed they did make a digi for the foul looking Lagonda. Many owners so i understand payed crazy prices for it to be converted to analouge as they all came with digi's as standard. Here is a pic of the Lagonda digi.....wonder if it would fit a Raddo
Mancorr 0 Posted December 26, 2006 I think this would look the dogs danglies......A flux capacitor 8) "When this baby hits 88mph we are going to see some serious s~it!!"
G60SC_Stoney 0 Posted December 26, 2006 think that lagonda was a work of art! the only other thing that had that much technology in it at that time was probably a BBC computer!!
Jonny_L 0 Posted December 27, 2006 I get the feeling this is gonna be a cool thread 8) I once saw a nova with the gte clocks, hate to say it but it looked pretty good (the dash only, that is  ). Wouldn't you loose the MFA though? Unless you incorporate the original lcd somehow, though I'm guessing it'd mean some major surgery on your standard clocks! Good luck fitting it, I hope to see some piccies one day.
