G60 Manifold and downpipes

Recommended Posts

Tonight I fear my downpipes may have started blowing. Does anyone know if a normal 8v golf set will fit? Haven't got the funds for a stainless replacement at the moment, but have a mate with a spare 8v exhaust system/manifold.

Cheers.

Hey Slim,

Have you checked underneath too see where its blowing from? I thought mine had gone a few weeks back as it was really noisy from right behind the engine, turns out it was the gasket between the downpipe and the main exhaust easy fix and cheap too! :D

also the bolts can come loose over time

try looking at them before you replace the manifolds as its a pain in the arse

the throttle body on the golf inlet mainfold is the wrond way round, so that wont fit

the exhaust manifold will fit though i think

Is there a join between manifold and downpipes? Had a quick look and feels like it's there, unfornately the engine was hot so couldn't confirm this.

Cheers

Yep,joined with 6x 17mm headed nuts part number:N102 090 05

And the gasket between the manifold/downpipe:533 253 115C

Please double check part numbers :)

The nuts can be gotten from underneath the car with long extensions and sometimes a bit of leverage, the studs can sometimes come out too.

Neil.
