ivor Fastun 0 Posted January 10, 2007 Can i just say Hi! Great site here, ive been trying to read through as much of it as pos. Im currently thinking about buyin a corrado as im finally reluctantly decided to sell both my opel mantas. Purely becuase theyve both been off the road for 3 years now and im loosing the battle to find time to work on them! One is completely stripped down to the shell if anyone is interested ;) Buying mantas has been a bad experience for me as the sellers lied to me about the condition both times and i wasnt careful enought when i checked over them, so is there any really good buyin advice? For instance what specifically to look out for? other than the obvious i mean. this could proove really useful. also is there any point in me holding out and tryin to find a low mileage one? im tempted to take the risk on a high milegae but carefully maintained one as they seem a bit cheaper. Finally, any recommendations for a place to look for insurance? the cheapest so far on a VR6 is £1300 and im 27 by the way! shocking! anyhoo, hopefully i'll be on here a bit more often and driving again soon! If anyone knows of a VR6 for sale lemmie know, im based in yorkshire! Cheers

GIXXERUK 0 Posted January 10, 2007 welcome aboard mate , direct line have been the best for me for the last few years but it really depends on if the insurance favours you, your locality etc etc might be worth a look here mate http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11067 there could be someone local who could go with you for a second opinion ;-)
nocrap 0 Posted January 10, 2007 Hello and welcome, have a trawl through the "insurance" section of the forum, loads of good companies mentioned in the there. Good luck with the corrado hunt! your bank balance will never be the same again....

Goldie 2 Posted January 10, 2007 Welcome. I wouldnt let mileage scare you too much. There are asome great Corrados on here with over 150k on the clock, its how theyve been looked after that is the important bit. Read the buying guides and ensure that the nescesary maintenance has been carried out for the particular models (chain for VRs, supercharger servicing for g laders etc etc). Check service historys, dont just look for VAG stamps but look at specialist servicing ( a G Werks service will be better than one from your local dealer). The guides on here are good though and otherwise its all the usual accident damage and paint checks etc etc. Insurance seems to vary. Im 27 and am paying 550 on a Vr Storm. I got the policy through confused.com and it is with admiral. Best of luck and enjoy.....

TomB 0 Posted January 10, 2007 Welcome to the forum, and as for insurance, if you don't do too many miles, then find a classic policy. I'd say the mileage is relatively unimportant tbh, as long as the car has been well cared for, and if you're looking at a car local to someone who knows, they might be able to come along with you. Cheers, Tom

smee 0 Posted January 10, 2007 Welcome! I'm with brentacre too, £599 fully comp, 27 yrs old, 4 yrs no claims (tho' only 1 yrs full license!) and all mods covered, just a 210bhp limit on engine mods (should be enough for me!) Can't say what they're like dealing with a claim, but they were great sorting the policy out. Milage wise I think anything under 100k counts as "low"!! My G60's done 177 now but she's been fairly well looked after.
ivor Fastun 0 Posted January 12, 2007 Cheers guys! Nice welcome here and very useful. Im soo lookin forward to gettin one, hopefully my impatients wont make me make the wrong purchase! I wanna get me a VR6 with black leather, maybe already lowered and tweeked but i want enough to impose my personality on it! Ideally dragon grenn or metailic black tho the purple does look good! ivor Fastun 0 Posted February 27, 2007 Hey, im very please to say i did get a VR6 afteral, it was heardys 1993 met black/grey one which was advertised on here! I litterally started a new job the next day so hav'nt found time to post back on here. Im settling in now tho and luvin the drive, tis a wikid little beast! I'll post some pics at the weeknd when hopefully it will get its weekly wash (missed last weeknd lol) My only plans are to fit a badgless grill and brow spoiler, afterall im struggling to pick a fault with it. The inside is a little different, the fan switch has already died (copper contact bent beyond recognition), knob was split and worn (now replaced) the dash lights are poor and the abs light in the gear stick surround. Im tempted to lengthen the wire and fit that where the blank is in the dashboard. This all means im sayin goodbye to my project mantas! I might even post a few pic of them if anyone is interested lol one thing i dont understand 88 manta... like a sieve, tin worm has been dinin out for years VS 93 corrado... totally rust free! 8)
