Stan 24v 0 Posted March 4, 2007 Looks similar to mine mate. I'll change my MAF over tomorrow and see what happens. I'll let you know how I get on. If you manage to get anywhere with yours, let me know.
Stan 24v 0 Posted March 6, 2007 Woohoo!!! Ive got it sussed!!! Swapped the MAF from my Corrado (4motion engine) over to the golf and hey presto, it works!!! It was the MAF fault code at the bottom of my readings all along. You going to Ultimate Paul? If so you can swap my MAF over to see if it works. PhatVR6 0 Posted March 6, 2007 my MAF is only 2 months old! cheers, got 2 others I can try. (not going in the 4mo)
Stan 24v 0 Posted March 6, 2007 What do you reckon it could be then?
PhatVR6 0 Posted March 6, 2007 looking like an inlet air leak somewhere.....or that blasted number 3 plug that didn't feel very nice when I tightened it up.....
Stan 24v 0 Posted March 6, 2007 You wanna part with one of those spare MAFs mate? I need to get another now as the one in the 4mo is off my C
PhatVR6 0 Posted March 6, 2007 can't, it's going with my 2.8 lump.
Stan 24v 0 Posted March 7, 2007 Drove in to work this morning, been raining all night, felt a little lump under load again and had a flashing engine light again  However, it hasnt stayed on this time, so its not a hard latch fault. Gonna vag-com it again tonight to see the codes. Maybe the coil pack is fooked after all???
s.g 0 Posted March 7, 2007 unlucky there hope you get it sorted soon
Stan 24v 0 Posted March 7, 2007 Got some new codes: VAG-COM Version: Release 311.2-N Control Module Part Number: 022 906 032 E Component and/or Version: MOTRONIC ME7.1 V007 Software Coding: 00132 Work Shop Code: WSC 31414 4 Faults Found: 17511 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heating: B1 S1: Performance too Low P1103 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent 17516 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heating: B2 S1: Performance too Low P1108 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent 16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected P0300 - 35-00 - - 16688 - Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected P0304 - 35-00 - - And from the Wiki: 17511/P1103/004355 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heating; B1 S1: Performance too Low Possible Solutions: * Check Oxygen Sensor Heating for Oxygen Sensor before Catalytic Converter 16684/P0300/000768 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected Possible Causes * Air Intake System leaking * Fuel Supply faulty * Injector(s) faulty * Ignition Cable(s) and/or Spark Plug(s) faulty * Ignition Coil(s) faulty * Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve (N18) stuck/open * Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) faulty Possible Solutions * Check Misfire Recognition * Check Air Intake System * Check Fuel Supply * Check Injector(s) and Injector Sealing * Check Ignition Cable(s) and Spark Plug(s) * Check Ignition Coil(s) * Check Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve (N18) * Check Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) Special Notes * This DTC indicates that one or multiple cylinders are misfiring, but the ECU fails to identify the cylinder. 16688/P0304 - Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected Possible Causes * Ignition system * Fuel injectors * Fuel pressure * Running out of fuel * EVAP canister purge valve * Evaporative emission system * Low compression * Base engine problems * Controle Module damaged Special Notes * This feature search for engine misfire in a specific cylinder. Most of the time the cause for a misfire is a lack of combustion in a cylinder due to absence of spark, poor fuel metering, or poor compression. Anyone got any ideas? Could it be the Lambda's, or the coil pack, or something else????
mtc R32 0 Posted March 7, 2007 Aint having much luck are you stan..... Don't worry i'm sure you'll get it all sorted.... I rekon its the coil pack too.... :)
Stan 24v 0 Posted March 7, 2007 Would that cause the lambdas to play up though? No, not much bloody luck, but thats what happens (sometimes) when you buy a cheap car :(
double-6s 0 Posted March 7, 2007 You should see how much i've spent on what was a cheap car when i bought it mate! I could be driving a porker instead! Lambda i reckon....
mtc R32 0 Posted March 7, 2007 Bloody hell double-6s, Where you been matey...???
CoxyLaad 0 Posted March 7, 2007 how does it know the lambdas are performing poor? if the coil pack is playing up, then it could be firing fuel out the exhaust and onto the lambdas. Its too much of a coincidence them both failing at the same time.
pacificshack 0 Posted March 8, 2007 Had problems with my Mk4 Golf GTI. Use to lose the revs completly at speed - was very dangerous! I'd have my foot to the floor and the engine gave nothing for seconds, then all of a sudden the power would kick in. Thought it was coil packs, but turned out to be a dodgy MAF, so got a new one. double-6s 0 Posted March 8, 2007 Bloody hell double-6s, Where you been matey...??? Lurking mate.......... lurking :)

Already changed that. Going for coil pack next. On a plus side, it passed the MOT today :D
fazgti 0 Posted March 8, 2007 im having this prob at the mo, changed the MAF and it did help but still a bit retarded so the lambda probe is next and codes also say i have a misfire on cylinder
Stan 24v 0 Posted March 8, 2007 What fault codes you getting? Is it a coil pack, or individual coils on the 1.8T?
Stan 24v 0 Posted October 6, 2007 Bit of an update. Recently changed the front wishbone bushes, and ARB bushes, all for powerflex and its made loads of difference!!! I also bought some Santa Monica's off ebay a while back, and have just wrapped them in Eagle F1's and stuck them on the car. The last owner had them refurbed in a gun metal grey colour, and I think they look quite ace!!! So I still have 24v to play with when needed  Opinions on the wheels? Jon_vr6 1 Posted October 6, 2007 Suits the car well and santa monicas are the best alloys for the mk4 imo!
vr6corrado 0 Posted October 6, 2007 Agree with Jon_vr6 on both points 8)
Goldie 2 Posted October 6, 2007 Nice but whatever rims you put on it still wont make it a better looking car than the Leon..
