Looks similar to mine mate. I'll change my MAF over tomorrow and see what happens. I'll let you know how I get on. If you manage to get anywhere with yours, let me know.

Woohoo!!!

Ive got it sussed!!! Swapped the MAF from my Corrado (4motion engine) over to the golf and hey presto, it works!!! It was the MAF fault code at the bottom of my readings all along.

You going to Ultimate Paul? If so you can swap my MAF over to see if it works.

Drove in to work this morning, been raining all night, felt a little lump under load again and had a flashing engine light again :mad:

However, it hasnt stayed on this time, so its not a hard latch fault. Gonna vag-com it again tonight to see the codes. Maybe the coil pack is fooked after all???

VAG-COM Version: Release 311.2-N

Control Module Part Number: 022 906 032 E

Component and/or Version: MOTRONIC ME7.1 V007

Software Coding: 00132

Work Shop Code: WSC 31414

4 Faults Found:

17511 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heating: B1 S1: Performance too Low

P1103 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

17516 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heating: B2 S1: Performance too Low

P1108 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected

P0300 - 35-00 - -

16688 - Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected

P0304 - 35-00 - -

And from the Wiki:

17511/P1103/004355 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heating; B1 S1: Performance too Low

Possible Solutions:

* Check Oxygen Sensor Heating for Oxygen Sensor before Catalytic Converter

16684/P0300/000768 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected

Possible Causes

* Air Intake System leaking

* Fuel Supply faulty

* Injector(s) faulty

* Ignition Cable(s) and/or Spark Plug(s) faulty

* Ignition Coil(s) faulty

* Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve (N18) stuck/open

* Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) faulty

Possible Solutions

* Check Misfire Recognition

* Check Air Intake System

* Check Fuel Supply

* Check Injector(s) and Injector Sealing

* Check Ignition Cable(s) and Spark Plug(s)

* Check Ignition Coil(s)

* Check Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve (N18)

* Check Camshaft Position Sensor (G40)

Special Notes

* This DTC indicates that one or multiple cylinders are misfiring, but the ECU fails to identify the cylinder.

16688/P0304 - Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected

Possible Causes

* Ignition system

* Fuel injectors

* Fuel pressure

* Running out of fuel

* EVAP canister purge valve

* Evaporative emission system

* Low compression

* Base engine problems

* Controle Module damaged

Special Notes

* This feature search for engine misfire in a specific cylinder. Most of the time the cause for a misfire is a lack of combustion in a cylinder due to absence of spark, poor fuel metering, or poor compression.

Anyone got any ideas? Could it be the Lambda's, or the coil pack, or something else????

Would that cause the lambdas to play up though?

No, not much bloody luck, but thats what happens (sometimes) when you buy a cheap car :(

You should see how much i've spent on what was a cheap car when i bought it mate! I could be driving a porker instead!

Lambda i reckon....

how does it know the lambdas are performing poor?

if the coil pack is playing up, then it could be firing fuel out the exhaust and onto the lambdas. Its too much of a coincidence them both failing at the same time.

Had problems with my Mk4 Golf GTI. Use to lose the revs completly at speed - was very dangerous! I'd have my foot to the floor and the engine gave nothing for seconds, then all of a sudden the power would kick in. Thought it was coil packs, but turned out to be a dodgy MAF, so got a new one.

Already changed that.

Going for coil pack next. On a plus side, it passed the MOT today :D

Bit of an update. Recently changed the front wishbone bushes, and ARB bushes, all for powerflex and its made loads of difference!!!

I also bought some Santa Monica's off ebay a while back, and have just wrapped them in Eagle F1's and stuck them on the car. The last owner had them refurbed in a gun metal grey colour, and I think they look quite ace!!!

So I still have 24v to play with when needed :wink:

Opinions on the wheels?
