poorly obd2 charged vr :(

mines suddenly running mega rich ie misfiring and black clouds out the back :(

if u drive it normally ie low revs/throttle it seems ok but if i give it some it starts running terribly doesnt want to idle rough as hell when pulling off really smokey

 

theres also a noise that gets worse its a bit like a fan it gets worse with higher rpm and u can hear it from about 3k onwards i can only hear it in the cabin i cant hear it in the engine bay

maybe an electrical problem? have you checked the leads, plugs etc ?

no mate y would these cause massive overfuelling?

it generally runs on all 6 pots

I can't see piston rings causing all the problems mate. The smoke maybe, but i don't think it sounds like ya rings.

it feels like its missing due to so much fuel cloggin the plugs

How many miles on the engine mate?

 

Could be the plugs are oiling up rather than getting clogged with fuel. I don't think fuel can clog the plugs can it?

106k its been usin a fair bit of oil but not smokey

when it smokes its thick black smoke like a diesel not oil smoke

Could the wierd noise be the water pump? They make a hideous noise when they give up the ghost.

iv suspected the water pump is a bit iffy recently the noise has gone away now and the car drives fine if im sensible but if i give it the beans it starts running bad i suspect piston rings :(

a compression test would prove this either way wouldnt it??

wheres the best place for a rebuilt/new bottom end??
