Goldie 2 Posted April 23, 2007 My car isnt too bad under the bonnet but would like to try and improve it.. One of the probs i have is that the car has a coating of yellow wax oil type stuff and would like to know if anyone has any suggestions on how to get shot of it?? Anybody had theirs steam cleaned or recommends / doesnt recommend having this done??
VR6 South 0 Posted April 23, 2007 I used lots of boiling water to get the waxy stuff off. I think you would be there a long time if you used a steam cleaner.
herisites 0 Posted April 23, 2007 Ardandy has done a really good guide on how to clean a VR6 engine bay HERE. Basically you need some AG Machine Cleaner, spray everything, agitate with a brush of some sort and then hose/wipe away.

KIPVW 0 Posted April 23, 2007 Did mine a long time ago with loads of gunk in a spray bottle and an auto glm wheel brush, get the engine hot mask of all electrical areas etc and also pays to stuff plastic bags into the spark plug holes. Spray all over agitate for ages until you get bored then rinsed with a kettle. :D It didn't all come off at once but over a short period it soon flaked off. Enjoy! Lol! See it and you at stanford if its back together or i'll be in my other C, Wheeeee!
Goldie 2 Posted April 24, 2007 Had a go at this thievening to clean the area around the BMC and the boiling water trick is the way ahead.. It softens the wax and then it just washes away... Ill be taking on the rest of the engine bay soon..
