Beetle, Golf and Bus Crash Test

Recommended Posts

scary stuff!!!

As the clips are in slow motion though there is no telling how fast they where going, chances are if it was fast enough then most other cars would not fare much better either

Also there is no telling what condition the cars where in, they hardy look mint, could have been well rotten

The Wedge looked in pretty grim condition before TBH...

Plus drive any flat-fronted vehicle into a building sized concrete block at speed the same will happen...

Mate hit the back of a transit with his splitty and it held up pretty well! Except for the hole punched in the front by the towbar!

It says the Beetle/Golf tests were done in 1988, so I'd imagine the Golf at least was new and probably the Beetle too.

The cars have the German ADAC stickers on them, so it probably the standard 50kph test they used to do.

Having said that - the old tests used to drive head-on into a concrete wall, but the new ones hit and off/set block, which is a more likely situation.

Yes, you'd definitely want something more sturdy. And maybe a fluorescent orange jacket too.

I still can't get over the crash test dummy in the Golf smacking his face into the pillar/crushed wing. Aye carumba!
