steveo29 0 Posted May 16, 2007 ive got hold of a k star unit from a 16v mk2, it has 3 wires spliced into the ecu harness and a big bunch tied up and never been used is it any good? worth fitting? i guess the other wires are for the top spec fuel & ign unit? Guest Posted May 16, 2007 I ran this on my old KR 16v. It did make a difference, in that it felt more responsive. Not so sure about getting any more power. The main reason i bought mine was due to 4 star being phased out at the time, and i'd heard that the KR may have problems running on unleaded. Turns out nobody seems to have any problems. It basically maps out the timing across the rev range for every 500rpm increments, instead of just being fixed. If you want a real difference though, get the 5th injector. With this my old 16v was alot quicker than a chipped 2.0 16v Rado. I was quite clued up on this piece of kit when i had the 16v, but we're talking over 6 years ago now... All the 16v knowledge has been replaced with VR  HTH Steve

Guest Posted May 16, 2007 does that unit look able to run the 5th inj? It can do, but it may not have the maps loaded to do so... I had to send mine away to be loaded with the injector maps before i fitted it.. are all parts and set up gear available still? Not sure. I bought mine from a company called Milford Microsystems, who developed the product. Think they were something to do with AMD.. my car is pretty standard, just exh and wur mod , still worth doing?| No harm in trying mate. It's dead easy to fit, so if you don't like it, just take it off again.... couldnt this also be used for the turbo tecnics set up fot the valver? I've heard of it being used on turbo conversions, but not sure what's involved. Doubt if it's the best solution though, as i guess more peeps would be running it...
